From today, Boots Opticians is offering five million free eye-test vouchers during National Eye Health Week (September 19-25, 2016) to help the estimated 16 million adults in the UK who have not had an eye test in the last two years.
An eye test is not only about sight
Despite recommendations that adults should have biannual eye tests, almost a third (31 per cent) of adults across the UK are not following this advice. When asked why, 26 per cent of those surveyed admitted they just hadn't go round to it, while one in five respondents said they were unaware they needed an eye test every two years.
An eye test is not only about sight – it also looks at the overall health of the eyes to identify any underlying problems. As part of the Boots Opticians Eye Test, they look for early signs of common health problems like diabetes, and take Digital Retinal photographs so they can monitor any changes over time. A single appointment lasts around 25 minutes.

Customers who visit a Boots Opticians store between September 19-27, 2016 will also be offered a free eye-test coupon with any purchase over £4. All vouchers are redeemable in any Boots Opticians until October 16, 2016.
