Tea Advent calendar 2024

by Natalie Knowles |
Updated on

Enjoy a daily cosy ritual in the run-up to Christmas with a tea Advent calendar. Tea is ideal for an Advent calendar because it offers various flavours and promotes relaxation during the most wonderful (busy!) time of the year. If you know someone who would prefer a non-chocolate yet luxurious Advent calendar, tea is a classy and health-conscious alternative.

Paired with your favourite Christmas mug and a festive movie, each day brings a new tea flavour to sip and savour. Plus, in comparison to beauty Advent calendars, tea can be a much more affordable, yet equally pleasing option. Imagine a warm and spiced Christmas tea – cranberries and orange – served from a teapot and paired with a mince pie as little treat each day in the countdown to the big day.

Best tea Advent calendars at a glance

For a festive winter warmer try some flavour combinations such as ginger and cinnamon or peppermint and vanilla teas. Fruits and spices such as clove, apple and nutmeg are comforting and warming to sip. Choose from tea Advent calendars that contain traditional breakfast tea, green tea, fruit and herbal teas, or organic tea that is aimed at improving wellbeing. It's an original gift idea for tea lovers and offers a variety of flavours for you and a loved one to explore.

If a foodie Advent calendar sounds appealing but you're on a budget, you could make your own tea Advent calendar with all your favourite individual sachets of tea presented in a reusable Advent calendar. Some reusable Advent calendars can be less than £5 and are a creative way to present a loved one with tailored and meaningful treats.

Best Scandi-style tea Advent calendar

Natalie Knowles/YAWNBREW

If you or a loved one is a fan of novel-tea, with fun flavours, puns galore and a bit of an alternative to the traditional Christmas aesthetic, this Yawn Brew Tea Advent Calendar is a refreshing alternative. Choose from Single Origin Loose Tea, Explorer Pyramid Tea Bags, Breakfast Tea Bags, Caffeine Free Loose Tea, Christmas Loose Leaf Tea. We sampled the Christmas Blends Advent and were impressed with the quality of the individually sealed and numbered pyramid bags, plus, the tea smells and tastes divine.

The Advent calendar itself is fun and interactive. On the side of the box there is a rating scale so you can give each tea marks out of five. There are QR codes to scan for brewing guides and more information about each tea. Plus, there's a chance to win a prize. If you find a Golden Ticket behind a door you win a prize between the 12-24th December, and you need to follow @yawnbrew on Instagram.

You get one tea bag per door that is individually sealed and numbered. The back of the Advent calendar tells you what the tea is for each day, and you can also look it up via the QR code.

The pleasant and warm colours are a lovely alternative and have more of a modern Scandi influence. This is a great Advent calendar to gift to a friend, daughter or grandchild that indulges in hygge and loves an interesting cuppa.

Best eco-conscious tea Advent calendar

Yours/Clipper
Price: £4.99

The Clipper Tea Advent Calendar is a delightful way to count down to Christmas, with 24 cups of ethically produced tea of the brand's most popular organic infusions. Each tea bag is unbleached, plastic-free and fully biodegradable, as per Clipper's exper-teas in sustainable and eco-friendly practices.

This Advent calendar is perfect for the eco-minded loved ones in your life. There are 12 flavours and 24 individually wrapped and numbered sachets of tea to sip and savour every day of Advent.

Our tester thought the design of this Advent calendar was a very neat little idea to save on packaging. It's the same size as a packet of tea bags, with a slot that dispenses the tea sachets, numbered in order for the days of Advent. From the bright illustrations to the inventive design, it's clear that a lot of creativity and originality has gone into the packaging. In particular, our tester loved the retro elves on each colourful sachet. The sachet and the tea bag don't tell you the flavour, so every day is a surprise. But if you want spoilers, there is a guide to the days and flavours on the side of the packet.

The teas have distinctive flavours; you get the taste of individual fruits and spices. The teas taste fresher than some of the other brands we have tested. For under £5, Clipper Tea's Advent calendar is superb value and a thoughtful, environmentally conscious treat for tea lovers during the festive season.

If you're new to matcha, it's a Japanese green tea powder that forms a frothy hot drink that's rich in antioxidants. Clearly, there's a fan-base that love it because Bird & Blend's best-selling Matcha Advent Calendar is a sell-out every year.

Reviewed by digital writer, Akhila Thomas: This Advent calendar is compact and comes packed in a green and pale pink box with windows for each day that opens to reveal a selection of 24 matcha flavours filled in little tins. The flavours are unique, and the pack contains some limited-edition treats that are a hit with connoisseurs of the energising green cuppa.

From the traditional Pure Grade Matcha and iconic hits like Strawberries and Cream, there are more interesting blends like the Honey Butter Matcha, Mince Pie Matcha and Eggnog Matcha to try. Out of all the festive ones, I specifically loved the Candy Cane matcha which had the essence of your traditional candy canes beautifully melting with the earthy notes of matcha.
