Luxury Advent calendars tend to be designed for us grown-ups to indulge in a little self-care ahead of the festive season, and they often sell out quickly. This year, we've rounded up some of our favourites for you to take a look at, and maybe treat yourself or a loved one.

Best luxury Advent calendar overall

The 2024 Bonne Maman Advent calendar contains a selection of jams, spreads and caramels, plus a special festive surprise behind door 24. It's the perfect family Advent calendar or a great special gift.

Reviewed by senior writer Becky Fuller: Huge excitement in our house over this one! Bonne Maman are synonymous with quality jams and spreads, and this Advent calendar is an opportunity for their creativity to be fully unleashed.

It's beautifully presented in a sturdy cardboard box, and each door hides a little pot of wonderful flavours. Honestly it's genuinely so exciting to open each day because there's flavours of jams or spreads you'd never see on a supermarket shelf, such as pineapple and passion fruit, or pear with cocoa nibs.

In fact, we all loved it so much that we have actually packed it all back into the doors, ready to open all over again in December... minus a few pots, that is! We tried the blueberry and vanilla spread, which was delicious on pancakes, apricot and orange blossom jam (lovely on toast), and milk caramel with vanilla, which I am not ashamed to say we ate right from the pot because it was so delicious.

This was by far our favourite calendar we tested, and the inclusion of the lovely festive bauble behind door 24 is a great touch. I would highly recommend this Advent calendar for a little touch of yummy luxury every day.

What's included: 23 spreads, jams or caramels in the following flavours:
Apricot with orange blossom spread, Hazelnut and cocoa spread, Pear with coca nibs spread, Strawberry and Wild strawberry extra jam, Pineapple and passion fruit jam, Orange, yuzu and grapefruit marmalade , Rhubarb with spices extra jam, Cherry with honey jam, Blueberry with maple syrup spread, Milk caramel with Madagascar vanilla, Mango, raspberry and lime spread, Fruits extra jam, Orange with dark chocolate spread, Apple and quince with honey spread, Mirabelle plum with linden blossom spread, Milk caramel with coffee spread, Raspberry with rose spread, Lemon with elderflower spread, Hazelnut and coca spread, Guava jam, Mixed berries extra jam, Apricot and peach jam, Purple fig with cinnamon jam
There is a significant range of flavours and types of tea: from black tea to rooibos, all tea lovers will find something they enjoy. Most tasty Advent calendar!

Becky Fuller/ Yours.co.uk

Countdown to Christmas with a flapjack each day! This Advent calendar from British company Flapjackery features 24 individually wrapped pieces of flapjack, each one a different flavour.

Reviewed by senior writer Becky Fuller and her 2 very excited children: The idea of a flapjack a day to count down to Christmas is pretty perfect anyway, and when they taste as good as these from the Flapjackery, it's even better.

They came packaged in a sturdy cardboard box, and there's a list of all the flavours on the back. Each piece is individually wrapped, labelled with a number and also what flavour it is on the back. You could either leave them in the box or take them out and make your own arrangement. I like the idea of making a stack of them on the table or sideboard.

We loved the list of flavours, especially the inclusion of classics as well as really different flavours we've not had before. The pieces are quite large - definitely value for money! We've been cutting them into 3 so we can each try every flavour (to avoid arguments!).

We've not found one we don't like - they really do taste excellent, and it's a delight to see my two teenage boys so excited to try a flapjack! Our favorites include honeycomb rocky road, ginger and dark chocolate, and mince pie - which tasted delightfully Christmasy.

As an Advent calendar for one person I'd say a flapjack a day might be a bit much, but to share between two or even three as we have done, it's completely perfect. We are delighted with it, and although £65 seems a lot of money, it's definitely representative of good quality.

What's included: 24 flapjack pieces including: Rudolph flapjack with piping, Caramel latte flapjack, Chocolate fudge flapjack, Honeycomb rocky road flapjack, Milk chocolate orange flapjack, Clotted cream fudge flapjack, Creamy hazelnut chocolate flapjack, Orange and cranberry flapjack, Ginger and dark chocolate flapjack, Millionaires flapjack, Mince pie flapjack, Dark chocolate and salted caramel flapjack, Peanut butter fudge flapjack, Burnt caramel and sea salt flapjack, Creamy fudge flapjack, Traditional flapjack, Raspberry Millionaire's flapjack, Salted caramel fudge flapjack, Christmas Tiffin flapjack, Billionaires flapjack, Creamy fudge flapjack, Mint chocolate flapjack, Treacle fudge flapjack, Florentine flapjack

Best for hot chocolate lovers

Orson Fuller / Yours

The Cocoba hot chocolate Advent calendar has 24 doors, containing a selection of bombes, spoons and chocolate flakes, made from high quality Belgian chocolate.

Reviewed by Senior Digital Writer Becky Fuller: There was great excitement in my house when this hot chocolate Advent calendar arrived. Although it's definitely suitable for adults, the packaging is fairly child-like so my boys got very excited.

The calendar contains a selection of bombes (our favorite), spoons and flakes. Some of the spoons are plain others have vegan marshmallows, which are also inside the bombes. It's a bit baffling why they're labelled as vegan when the chocolate isn't.

The bombes are fun - you pour the hot milk over them and they open to reveal marshmallows inside. The blonde flakes taste the best - deliciously smooth and sweet yet undeniably chocolate.

Overall we really loved this calendar and its contents, although we do feel it's expensive.

What's included: 6 x hot chocolate flakes - 2 x milk, 2 x blonde, 2 x dark, 6 x hot chocolate bombes - 2 x milk, 2 x dark, 2 x white, 6 x hot chocolate spoons - 2 x milk, 2 x dark, 2 x white, 6 x hot chocolate spoons with vegan marshmallows - 2 x milk, 2 x dark, 2 x white

Best Advent calendar for biscuit lovers

Becky Fuller/ Yours

The Biskery offers a unique way to count down to Christmas, with their biscuit tin. Each tin is baked to order, and contains 12 jam biscuits with positive affirmations on.

Reviewed by senior writer Becky Fuller: We loved this tin from the Biskery! There's only 12 biscuits not 24, but they're so rich and delicious that 24 might be a bit much! Each biscuit has a different affirmation on it, so it would make a lovely gift for a friend or loved one to enjoy. We really loved reading them all.

The biscuits arrived well packaged and the tin is good quality, and useful to keep afterwards. The biscuits are stacked with a layer of rice paper between each, so they don't get sticky or soft.

The biscuits themselves are a good size and excellent quality. Don't be put off by the price tag of this tin; they're absolutely worth it. Crumbly but firm, tasty but not too sweet or, as my son put it "the nicest biscuits we've ever had!"

What's included: 12 baked to order jam biscuits, each with different positive affirmations

Best luxury chocolate Advent calendar

You might recognize the name Soko Patisserie as it's headed up by Bake Off The Professionals finalist, Bharat Chandegra. Together with his baking partner John, the pair have delivered this luxury chocolate Advent calendar, with 24 chocolates in 12 different flavors.

Reviewed by senior writer Becky Fuller: We are big fans of Bake Off The professionals in this house, so there was a lot of excitement surrounding this calendar, and its contents didn't disappoint!

The calendar was well packaged though 2 of our chocolates were broken inside which was a shame. The calendar itself is brightly coloured, with 12 facts of Christmas inside. It looks really nice standing on the sideboard as the pictures are lovely.

The chocolates themselves are divine. There's simply no other word to describe them. My eldest son loves making patisserie and this has only inspired him more! Some of the flavor combinations seemed odd when looking at the list but they work so well! We particularly loved the salted caramel and passion fruit, the mince pie, and the fig caramel. There was nearly a fight over the malted milk one!

The chocolates are all beautifully crafted, too. It genuinely feels like a real treat to open the doors each day.

What's included: 24 chocolates featuring the following flavours: Masala Chai and Biscoff, Salted Caramel and Passion fruit, Café Latte and Chestnut, Mince Pie, Gingerbread, Black Forest, Cranberry Cream Cheese, Hazelnut Rocher, Malted Milk, Baileys Cream, Praline & Mandarin Bar, Fig Caramel

The perfect Christmas gift for a whisky connoisseur, this whisky Advent calendar from Drinks by the Dram contains 25 wax sealed miniatures.

Reviewed by senior writer Becky Fuller: The whisky Advent calendar came in a robust box and wrapped in plenty of bubble wrap, ensuring it was in perfect condition. The box itself is sturdy, and stands well. It's a lovely burgundy colour. There are 25 doors, all with a whisky miniature behind each.

Now, I'm not recommending you drink one each day, but you could of course if you want to. My partner has chosen to store them up, but we have sampled a few. Sherry cask whisky has a distinct, smooth taste, and we loved tasing the differences between the samples. I really loved the Oak and Apple Wood aged whisky, while he enjoyed the Talker 10 year old the best.

All the whisky's included are real quality - reflected in the price point - but well worth it if whisky is your thing.

What's included: 25 wax-sealed sherry cask whisky miniatures, including: Balblair 15 Year Old 3cl Sample, Black Bottle 3cl Sample, Black Bottle Captain's Cask - Alchemy Series 3cl Sample, Bulleit Bourbon 10 Year Old 3cl Sample, Caol Ila 12 Year Old 3cl Sample, Fielden Rye Whisky 3cl Sample, Glen Grant 18 Year Old Rare Edition 3cl Sample, Glen Scotia Double Cask 3cl Sample, Highland Park 18 Year Old - Viking Pride 3cl Sample, Lagavulin 8 Year Old 3cl Sample, Loch Lomond 12 Year Old 3cl Sample, Lochlea Our Barley 3cl Sample, Monkey Shoulder Blended Malt Scotch Whisky 3cl Sample, Old Pulteney 15 Year Old 3cl Sample, Paul John Bold 3cl Sample, Redbreast 12 Year Old Cask Strength - Batch B1/23 3cl Sample, Royal Lochnagar 12 Year Old 3cl Sample, Talisker 10 Year Old 3cl Sample, Talisker Port Ruighe 3cl Sample, Talisker Storm 3cl Sample, The Antiquary 21 Year Old - Port Casks 3cl Sample, The Sexton Single Malt 3cl Sample, Whisky Works King of Trees 10 Year Old 3cl Sample, Whisky Works Quartermaster 11 Year Old 3cl Sample, Widow Jane Rye Mash - Oak & Apple Wood Aged (Batch 59) 3cl Sample.
