Best Easter eggs at a glance:
How we tested the Easter eggs
Our panel of experts have dutifully tested a wide variety of Easter eggs to select their favourites (it's a hard job, we know!). Each one was assessed individually and marked out of five, where we've considered the texture, price, smell and of course - the taste!
Not to toot our own horn, but we've been testing Easter Eggs for many years now, and we'd like to think of ourselves as egg-sperts in this area (sorry). Our egg-cellent testers (sorry again) range from mums with little (or big) children, couples, singles, and we cover all dietary requirements, too, including vegans.
When it came to testing these eggs, it was important to us to cover a broad product range. With the cost of living crisis, plus the increase in food prices, we wanted to make sure we included budget-friendly but tasty options as well as more high-end, luxury easter eggs if you felt like splashing out.
The most expensive egg on our list is £45, but there's some costing as little as £4, and most are around the £10 range, so we hope you'll see something for everyone. We've also included some eggs that don't really look like eggs - including a croissant shaped Easter egg and a biscuit shaped one!
We hope you enjoy our reviews as much as we've enjoyed testing them for you!

The best Easter eggs 2025
Best milk chocolate Easter eggs
Best milk chocolate Easter egg overall
www.lindt.co.uk
The Lindt Lindor Milk Chocolate Easter Egg is a real treat for milk chocolate lovers. When we cracked open the shell and took a bite, we were met with that signature velvety smoothness that Lindt is famous for. The chocolate is rich, creamy and oh-so-indulgent without being too heavy. Sure, for the price, the egg itself could be bigger, especially compared to some of the other best Easter eggs on the market this year, but Lindt does make up for it with eight individually wrapped truffles included, each bursting with that irresistible melting centre.
Beautifully designed with a striking geometric pattern and delicate speckles, this Chococo Milk Chocolate Nest Easter Egg is sure to impress. We loved the design and felt that it would make a great gift as it stands out from other eggs we tried. Once you crack into its deliciously creamy shell, you'll discover six golden eggs hidden inside. It's a sweet surprise that makes every bite extra special. We found the chocolate of the egg to be thick but that it also cracked nicely. It's not overly sweet, but neither is it bitter like dark chocolate. We were forced to share the little golden eggs inside the shell, but would have happily devoured them all as they were so delicious. We'd be very happy if the Easter Bunny delivered this to us again!
Combining the rich, creamy taste of Cadbury's chocolate with the beloved crunch of Cadbury's Fingers, this Cadbury Fingers Ultimate Easter Egg offers a delightful twist on the Cadbury's Easter Eggs we all know and love. The egg is hollow and made from the signature Cadbury recipe, but inside the shell, you'll find the crunchy shortcake biscuit pieces of Cadbury's Fingers to give you a satisfying crunch in every bite. You also get two mini packets of Fingers inside the box, but considering this is one of the more luxury offerings in Cadbury's range, we thought it would have been nice to have a regular box of Cadbury's Fingers inside. That being said, the egg is delightfully more-ish, so you'll definitely struggle to put this one down once you've started. We like that Cadbury has made a real effort with minimal packaging too, a nice touch.
If you love a sweet and salty combo, this Tesco Pretzel & Salt Chocolate Egg will tick a lot of boxes for you this Easter. We found the chocolate to be super sweet, but thanks to the added salt, it never feels overwhelming. That little hint of salt balanced everything beautifully, making each bite more addictive than the last. The pretzel pieces inside the shell bring the crunch to this egg, adding a satisfying texture with each bite to keep things interesting. The sweet, salty and crunchy flavours are rich, indulgent and oh-so-moreish.
All the Tesco eggs only have cardboard packaging, and no plastic, which is great.
Each bite of the Tesco Raisin & Biscuit Chocolate Egg is packed with chewy raisins and crunchy biscuit pieces, adding texture and delight to the creamy milk chocolate. We know raisins are somewhat like marmite, with some loving them but others despising them, but we liked that you can really taste the raisins in this egg, giving it a fruity sweetness that pairs perfectly with the biscuit crunch. It is very sweet, so unless you've got a serious sweet tooth, you might not finish it all in one go (we sure didn't, even when sharing it!). If you love chocolate and fruit as a pairing, this egg is a must-try.
Best Cadbury's Dairy Milk Easter egg

www.sainsburys.co.uk
Our only complaint about your average Cadbury Easter egg is that the shell can be a little thin. Enter, the Cadbury Daily Milk Chunky Egg with its extra-thick chocolate shell to chomp into. For any Dairy Milk fan, this one is bound to leave you satisfied.
Best biscuit Easter egg

www.ocado.com
While we're not sure this counts as being an egg, we're happy to turn a blind eye as this offering from M&S is seriously tasty. Honouring their popular Extremely Chocolatey Biscuits, the thick chocolate of this 'egg' is generously studded with biscuit pieces. We thoroughly enjoyed dunking shards into a cuppa.
Best Easter egg for kids

www.iceland.co.uk
If you're looking for Easter eggs for little ones, this Thorntons Milk Chocolate Unicorn Egg will go down a treat. The flavours are simple: milk chocolate with a white chocolate unicorn decoration. We would like to see some inclusions, but all-in-all it's a decent egg with minimal packaging and at a great price too.
Best dark chocolate Easter eggs
Best dark chocolate Easter egg

www.sainsburys.co.uk
You can tell this Sainsburys Belgian Dark Chocolate XL Easter Egg is part of their Taste The Difference range because you really can taste the difference compared to other dark chocolate eggs. This masterpiece combines rich, velvety dark Belgian chocolate with a subtle hint of pure sea salt, creating a beautiful blend of bittersweet and savoury notes in your mouth. It's generously sized and at just £10, good value for the quality.
Two worlds collide in the Tesco Finest Dark Milk Chocolate Hollow Egg. It's taller and narrower than a lot of the eggs we've tried. We like that it's quite thick but not so chunky that you can't bite into it - although it's hard to break open with your hands! The taste is quite bitter and we didn't get much of the milk chocolate flavour coming through.
Best white chocolate Easter eggs
Best white chocolate Easter egg

groceries.asda.com
If you love white chocolate, the Cadbury White Chocolate Giant Gift Boxed Easter Egg is an egg-stra special treat. Cracking open the beautifully boxed egg reveals the smooth, melt-in-your-mouth chocolate that Cadbury does oh so well, but a white chocolate version that is rich, velvety, and just the right amount of sweet! You also get a delicious white chocolate bar inside the box to keep the indulgence going.
Best flavoured Easter eggs
Best caramel milk chocolate Easter egg
www.hotelchocolat.com
If you like your chocolate to have flavours that are soft and sweet, you'll like this Hotel Chocolat Nibbly Egg. It's crafted with a milk caramel chocolate blend, with a little drizzle of 70 per cent dark to balance the flavours and add a decorative touch. The chocolate is lovely and smooth, but it also has a crispy caramel eclat in the shell to give it a subtle crunch, plus a pinch of sea salt to offset those rich caramel notes. And if the egg wasn't enough, there are six tiddly salted caramel eggs included, too, that have a silky caramel cream centre. Trust us, you won't be able to eat the minis and the main egg in one sitting (although we're not judging if you do!). We found the tiddly eggs to be very sweet compared to the main egg, but if you've got a big sweet tooth, this will very much be your cup of tea.
Our only gripe? We would have liked less plastic in the packaging.
Being fans of Baileys, we were immediately drawn to this egg. This indulgent treat features a luxuriously smooth milk chocolate egg infused with Baileys, giving it that signature creamy, boozy twist. Inside the box, you'll also find irresistible Baileys chocolate truffles, made with a rich chocolate ganache with Baileys' original Irish cream liqueur flavoured centre. Whether you're treating yourself or gifting a fellow chocoholic, this egg is pure indulgence. It’s the perfect way to add a little grown-up decadence to your Easter celebrations.
The sweetness of the caramel and white chocolate is cut through nicely with the crunch and slight saltiness of the pretzel in this Co-op Irresistible Pretzel Crunch Golden Chocolate Egg. We would've liked to have seen a bit more shine to the egg, as the chocolate looks a bit lacklustre, but this is only a minor qualm when you consider the overall quality and size!
Best milk and blonde chocolate Easter egg

groceries.morrisons.com
Crafted by a fourth-generation chocolatier, this Morrisons Easter egg is sweet and milky. The pretzel and honeycomb pieces and some texture and crunch elevate the egg to a more luxurious status. It is very sweet (yes, even for an Easter egg), so we recommend washing it down with a nice cuppa.
Best honeycomb and caramel milk Easter egg

groceries.asda.com
This Easter egg lives up to being extra thick and practically melts in the mouth as it's so creamy. The honeycomb, pretzel and caramel flavours work together so well and give the egg a lovely crunch. We only wish the chocolate had a stronger flavour to match!
Best chocolate orange Easter Egg

Who doesn't enjoy a segment or five of Terry's Chocolate Orange? The milk chocolate egg in this pack is flavoured with real orange oil and comes with an exploding candy ball, but we really wished the egg had the exploding candy pieces in the shell too.
This unique-looking Easter egg comes complete with corners - only fitting since it's made by Toblerone! We inhaled this milk chocolate egg studded with honey and almond nougat and the accompanying mini chocolates in one sitting, but felt it was a little thinner than we would have liked.
Best tea inspired Easter egg

www.birdandblendtea.com
With pretty spring-coloured packaging, this Easter egg looks lovely. There can be no doubt that it is matcha-infused when you open the egg because the chocolate is green. However, don't let that put you off. The chocolate is thick and creamy but doesn't get too sickly because there really is an aftertaste of matcha tea. For some, this could be a little bitter, but we thought that with all the sweetness of Easter chocolate, this made a refreshing change and really enjoyed this Bird & Blend Matcha Infused Easter Egg. If you are a fan of tea, especially green tea or matcha, then this egg is for you!
If you’re a Reese’s fan, the Reese’s Peanut Butter XL Easter Egg is a must-try seasonal treat. We were thrilled with it as this egg ticked all the right boxes for our sweet yet salty chocolate fix. The main egg itself is delicious, with Reese’s signature creamy peanut butter encased in a thick milk chocolate shell. Unlike traditional hollow eggs, this one is completely filled with peanut butter, making it rich, indulgent, and utterly satisfying. That said, it loses a point for only being half an egg rather than a full one, but given how dense and peanut buttery it is, that’s understandable.
It does redeem itself for the extra goodies it has inside, though, as you get a Reese's Big Cup and a bag of Reese's mini eggs, all filled with that same irresistible peanut butter goodness. If you're a serious peanut butter lover, you'll be nuts about this egg.
If you love sweet, creamy white chocolate, Hershey's Cookies 'N' Creme Easter Egg will go down a treat. The egg itself is smooth and rich, with that classic Hershey’s vanilla-like sweetness. What makes it extra enjoyable is the crunchy cookie pieces scattered throughout the shell, as they add a bit of texture and contrast, which keeps each bite interesting.
One of the nice surprises is that the box also includes a Hershey’s Cookies ‘N’ Creme bar. It’s a great little extra, but since it’s essentially the exact same chocolate as the egg, it does start to feel a bit repetitive. If you’re a die-hard fan of this flavor, though, you probably won’t mind. I’d say this Easter egg is perfect for those with a real sweet tooth. It’s definitely on the sugary side, which might not be for everyone. The cookie bits help balance it slightly, but overall, it’s quite rich. If you love the Hershey’s Cookies ‘N’ Creme range, you’ll enjoy this.
Best luxury Easter eggs
This is most definitely a grown-up Easter egg. This super-thick egg from Hotel Chocolat comes in two split parts; one half is brownie-inspired 50 per cent milk chocolate, while the other side is reminiscent of the flavours of a creamy cheesecake filling, made with salted caramel milk chocolate. Not only did we love the mix of flavours, but both sides of the egg also come stuffed with a medley of patisserie-inspired choccies of all your fave cakes, bakes and puddings, which were delicious. £35 is definitely at the higher end of the budget for an egg, but we reckon this one is well worth it as a treat, as this luxurious egg and the chocolates inside will certainly last you a good few days.
Although a croissant might not be the first thing that comes to mind for Easter, we’re not complaining as the Waitrose No.1 The Chocolate Croissant Easter Egg is just too delicious to resist! Moulded out of rich, chunky blonde chocolate that melts in your mouth -bringing to mind a Caramac bar - it's super creamy! The feuilletine wafer, caramel bits, and chocolate vermicelli provide a delightful mix of textures. Overall, it's absolutely delicious and we can see why it's gone viral!
When it comes to luxury chocolate, it doesn't get much better than Monty Bojangles. Even the packaging of this Easter Egg has the luxe touch as it's packed in a tin. We did feel it was rather opulent to have an Easter egg packaged in a tin but also quite sustainable, as you can use it for storage afterwards. It is beautifully packaged, nestled between blue tissue paper, and you get six decently sized, individually wrapped truffles.
The truffles have a rich taste and a smooth, velvety texture with a cocoa powder dusting that adds a hint of bitterness while beautifully complementing the creamy filling inside. We made the mistake of trying the Easter egg after the truffle, and the egg didn’t have the same mouthwatering sweetness and depth of flavour, but the chocolate egg was still melt in the mouth and has a lovely, glossy shine.
Bite-sized delights that melt in your mouth, these Cartwright & Butler Luxury Belgian Chocolate Eggs come in a tin that's perfect for gifting - we can see them as part of a lovely Easter hamper! The rich praline cream filling is divine, and the white, milk and dark chocolates complement each other nicely and would make fantastic cake decorations.
www.chococo.co.uk
This Chococo egg has a lovely wave design. It cracked nicely and revealed more of the sea theme with the turtles and starfish inside. We noticed there was a lot more chocolate than most chocolate eggs have inside, with some parts being thin and a lot of it being thick chocolate, which was nice.
We could tell from the taste that it was good quality chocolate as it had a lovely flavour without being overly sweet (which was great as chocolate can be quite sickly), and we could eat half of it in one sitting; it was that good!
Best half Easter egg

cutterandsquidge.com
Half an egg!? What daylight robbery is this? We hear you cry. But stay with us because this half-milk chocolate shell holds luxurious caramel ganache filled eggs, digestive crumb, salted caramel sauce and crunchy butterscotch pieces. Oh and it's topped with crispy pearls, fudge pieces and a touch of gold for an elegant finish. It's gorgeous but very sickly but this won't be a problem if you've got a sweet tooth. Our only issue was that there's no tidy way to devour this beast so it doesn't stay looking pretty for long. We recommend a bowl and a sharp knife to cut through the glorious contents. Pre-order now for delivery well in time for Easter.
Best popcorn Easter egg

www.virginexperiencedays.co.uk
We do love an Easter egg with a difference and this one from Popcorn Shed certainly fits the brief. The Belgian milk chocolate egg shell has caramel popcorn enrobed in the chocolate on the inside and we really enjoyed the combination of textures and flavours. It's decorated really nicely too with a drizzle of white chocolate and multi-coloured beans on the outside.
We don't think we've seen a prettier Easter egg! We were impressed with the beautiful presentation of this egg from Betty's, which features Royal Icing hand-piped tulips, primroses and pansies. With just one bite you can taste the high quality of the Swiss Grand Cru milk chocolate. It's smooth and sweet, so decadent that we needed a few nights to work my way through this egg. We would have loved to have seen it accompanied by some truffles or a little something extra.
Best luxury salted caramel Easter egg

lovecocoa.com
This Love Cocoa Salted Caramel 41% Milk Chocolate Luxury Egg smells amazing and is appealing before you've even tasted it. It's one medium size milk chocolate egg that's infused with salted caramel. It's a luxury chocolate and makes for a special little gift. If you're feeling greedy you could consume this in one sitting.
Best nutty luxury Easter egg

www.rumseys.co.uk
Anyone would be lucky to receive this nut-studded milk chocolate Easter egg, made by independent family business Rumsey's Handmade Chocolates. The egg shell is thick and generous while the chocolate is clearly high quality and deliciously creamy. You'll also get a tray of handmade nutty chocolates. We were really impressed with the overall presentation and this egg would be a great pick to gift to a loved one. Available for pre-order for delivery before Easter now.
Best Easter-egg shape liqueur

www.harveynichols.com
This creamy liqueur is a great alternative to a chocolate egg. One for the adults in your life (and for you) its smooth, chocolate taste just glides down your tongue, leaving a rich, velvety aftertaste. Although heavily chocolate based, it’s not overpowering, but its price wise is in line with other alcoholic alternatives on the market. It comes in a beautiful box, doesn’t need to be wrapped up and makes for a perfect keepsake. Egg Royale’s attention to detail (with the bunnies on the ribbon) is just delightful.
Best Vegan Easter eggs
Best Vegan Easter egg

www.hotelchocolat.com
Like its non-vegan alternatives, this Nutmilk egg is nicely presented in an eye-catching case. The thick chocolate shell is made of Nutmilk, Hotel Chocolat's Vegan alternative to milk chocolate, without milk and contains finely milled hazelnuts which gives a subtle praline backnote. Met with the enticing aroma of rich chocolate, the egg consists of two half shells each containing six delicious chocolates, with two of each flavour that are perfect for sharing. The chocolates inside are a lovely choice of decadent fillings, our favourites being the Nutmilk city bunny and the Peanut Butter Jelly Nutmilk. This delicious Vegan Nutmilk Egg and all of the specially selected chocolates inside are in a class of their own and we have no doubt it would be enjoyed by any chocolate lover, Vegan or otherwise.
Best free-from Easter egg

Free from dairy, gluten, egg and nuts, this egg comes with a gooey, caramel chocolate bar. We thought the bar was a very good alternative to Cadbury caramel for those that are vegan or have intolerances. The chocolate is quite sweet and tastes slightly nutty with a sea salt undertone to it. Overall, this made our Vegan testers very happy.
Best Oat Milk Easter egg

hipchocolate.com
Rich in flavour and colour, the texture of this oat milk egg is crunchy to begin with, and the flavour starts off as chocolatey. It then quickly melts and provides a burst of salted caramel flavour. This is a great option for people who enjoy the richer flavours associated with dark chocolate.
Best orange-flavoured vegan Easter egg

groceries.asda.com
This vegan Easter egg, made with a rice-based alternative to milk chocolate, is perfect for vegans and those intolerant to milk. It has satisfyingly crunchy caramel flakes, a lovely moreish orange flavour with smooth, tasty chocolate - you wouldn't even know it was vegan!
Best gluten-free Easter egg

www.sainsburys.co.uk
This tasty egg from Nomo is Vegan and free from dairy, gluten, egg and nuts. The smooth cookie dough-flavoured chocolate egg contains crispy rice pieces which add a nice crunch. You'll also receive a delicious chocolate bunny with a creamy cookie dough filling.
