There's nothing quite like the smell of a cake baking in your kitchen and if you've ever wondered the nation's favourite, we've got the answer.
JackandBeyond.com analysed search volumes for popular cakes across Europe to find each country’s favourites.
The preferred cake in three out of ten countries, tiramisu is an Europe-wide favourite. France, Belgium and Italy love this rich coffee classic, with up to 246,000 people searching for it every month.
The much-loved cheesecake is the second most popular cake, a favourite in the Czech Republic (27,100) as well as Greece (9,400).
In a surprising outcome, Spain’s favourite, with 34,000 people searching every month, was revealed to be carrot cake! This trumped the likes of even the Spanish classic, tocino de cielo to become the nation’s favourite.
Over in the UK specifically, it may not surprise you that Brits’ all-time favourite cake is chocolate. The UK’s overwhelming love for chocolate, amasses monthly search volumes of almost 100,000!

In second place which may be a surprise, are cupcakes with a whopping 74,000 people searching for these tiny treats.
And in joint third, tiramisu, red velvet cake, cheesecake and carrot cake generated 60,500 Google searches a month.
