I am a 55-year-old woman who loves walking and outdoor pursuits. I am a casual runner and regularly attend the gym and take part in various fitness classes. I spend a lot of time on my feet! My job involves looking at a screen all day and so being active is really important to me to ensure I have a balanced lifestyle. Being menopausal means that fitness and mental health are essential at my stage of life, which is why I try to keep active.

I have never tried a trainer from FitVille, so I was intrigued to find out how they would stand up for high-impact, gym classes and walking. I walk roughly 25-30 miles a week, so I needed a comfortable and supportive shoe and the sturdy, affordable Cloud Wanderer V8 trainers accommodated all these features. The trainers tested were wide fit so suit my needs well.

Testing the FitVille Women's Cloud Wanderer V8 Trainers

The FitVille trainers came in a clear wallet as opposed to a box.  When unpacked, I was amazed how light they were, ideal for the gym.

The FitVille Cloud Wanderer V8 Wide Fit Trainers are extremely lightweight, they really did have a cloud like feeling! They look high-end with their stylish design and come in a range of different colours making them a good option for both training and daily use. I tested the Navy/Pink model which looked great with my gym outfits. The insole is removable and has a heel stable to protect your heel and a thickened arch lift. The sole is thick, measuring 5cm, giving them a good bounce factor, ideal for high impact gym classes, the thick sole also prevents toe bending.

The material of the trainer is very flexible and breathable which will reduce odours. I found them very supportive around the ankle, with great cushioning and comfort, so zero break-in time and suitable for various activities.  I would recommend going down a half size however, as they came up quite big which I guess would be down to the wider fit.

I found the Fitville Cloud Wanderers great value for the money, good quality material and easy to wear. The 5cm sole gave great protection under foot and a good bounce when needed. The material is flexible and breathable, I did not once feel my feet were overheating whilst walking or at a high impact gym class. They are very easy to get on and off without having to loosen the laces too much, however, they could be tightened if needed. The heel support was an added extra, causing no rubbing at all. The tread had a great grip, and I felt comfortable when wearing them in the gym on a wooden floor or outside on trail run.

The wide fit design was very comfortable especially if narrow trainers do not suit your feet. The toe box was spacious without losing any support, which would relieve any medical issues you might have.  I could easily wear these trainers all day without any issues, they would be ideal if your daily routine required you to stand or walk for long hours.

I did feel the trainers were a bit too roomy and not as snug as they could be, but this would be dependent on the shape of your foot. I overcame this by tightening the laces and wearing a thicker sock which certainly helped. Due to the oversizing, I felt they were not very flattering and looked cumbersome, as with some trainers you can feel comfortable wearing them with your daily attire, I do feel these are better worn with gym wear or running/walking gear.

I did feel the trainers were slightly oversized, but this could be due to the wide fit; I am normally a 5.5 but would get a size 5 when buying these again. In my opinion they did look bulky, with the comfort factor perhaps overriding the look somewhat. They were good for running short distances but might struggle with a longer run.

Final verdict

The FitVille Cloud Wanderer V8 Wide Fit Trainers offer optimal comfort and support, they are really versatile and can be used for various activities and environments. They are suitable to wear for long periods of time, I would recommend these to anyone wanting a wider fit trainer.
