Best clothing gift for dog lovers

TOG24 Revive Womens Quarter Zip FleeceTOG24
Price: $18 (was £45)

www.tog24.com

Keep warm on dog walks in the TOG24 Revive Women's Quarter Zip Fleece, which is available in a range of colours, including this terrific teal option. It's also available in a wide range of sizes and has a zip-neck opening.

I wore this on one of the chilliest days of the year, and it kept me nice and warm. It's lightweight, so you can wear it under a coat, and it's super soft (as you'd expect fleece to be). The zip is long and easy to use. I like that it is slightly longer than some fleeces, so it helps to keep the heat in. However, I did find the collar a little uncomfortable at certain angles, but you can flatten it down.

My favourite thing about it is that you can purchase a matching TOG24 Rover Sherpa Dog Coat, making it the ultimate gift for those who like to dress up their pups.

Pros

  • Zip-neck style with an adjustable collar
  • Super soft and long

Cons

  • Collar can get in the way

Best dog coat

TOG24 Rover Sherpa Dog CoatArabella Horspool/Yours.co.uk
Price: $23 (was £33)

www.tog24.com

Here's the matching dog coat to the TOG24 Revive Womens Quarter Zip Fleece. Again, it is super soft and warming and it can be worn over their harness, as it has a small slit to put the lead through.

My dachshund Otis loved wearing the TOG24 Rover Sherpa Dog Coat. As soon as it was on, he was tottering around, wagging his tail. It is a little loose on him, but it kept him nice and warm for his chilly winter walkies on a freezing night.

Reviewed by our Commercial Content Writer, Arabella Horspool and her dog Otis.

Pros

  • Available in different colours
  • Suitable for walks (has a hole to put a lead through)

Cons

  • Small size may be too big for extra-small pups

Best practical gift for dog lovers

Doodlebone Light Up LeadArabella Horspool/Yours

Available in two colours, the Doodlebone Light Up Lead is a must-have for dog walkers, particularly during the darker months. I have nothing but praise for these leads; I use them on every evening dog walk we go on and every time, somebody walks past and comments on how cool/what a great idea they are.

They have a bright glow that lets cars, pedestrians, and other dog walkers know that your pet is there. I have three dogs, and one is a black and tan Dachshund, so this light-up lead adds some much-needed visibility for him during night-time walkies.

I love that it's rechargeable, so you don't need to buy any batteries. However, the cable included is particularly short. Don't let this put you off, though, as 1 charge will last for up to 8 hours (so, multiple walks) have not 1 but 3 light settings, including static, slow flash and a quick flash, which can be changed at the touch of a button.

They are comfortable to hold and are pretty long, plus they clip easily onto a harness or collar. Keep it classy with a Berry lead with white lights, or create a fun disco vibe with the black lead with multicoloured lights.

Reviewed by our Commercial Content Writer Arabella Horspool.

Pros

  • Rechargeable with a long battery life
  • Very bright and has 3 light options

Cons

  • Short charging cable

Best unique Christmas present for dog lovers

Wisdom Panel™ PremiumArabella Horspool/Yours.co.uk
Price: $97.99 (was £139.99)

www.wisdompanel.com

If you've always looked into your dog's eyes and wanted to know more about them, the Wisdom Panel™ Premium may just have the answers. Just like human DNA tests, you'll be able to trace your pup's ancestry, test for potential health conditions, find physical traits, 15 behavioural predisposition and their relatives.

It screens for 365+ breeds, and the results are processed in a UK laboratory, and the findings will be sent over to you.

I have three dogs, a Dachshund and two Jack Russell Terriers (who are brothers). The JRTs have different fur types, and not much is known about their ancestry. We've always thought that may be part chihuahua and/or other breeds, so we were excited to do the Wisdom Panel™ Premium test.

It's easy to do; you simply activate the test online, do the swab, send it off, and your results will be sent to you in two weeks' time. The only thing I had an issue with was trying to get the swab, as you need to do it for 15 seconds and they can be very defiant (even at 14 years old)!

Reviewed by our Commercial Content Writer Arabella Horspool.

Pros

  • Quick and easy to setup
  • Find out potential health conditions

Cons

  • Can be tricky to swab your dog's mouth

Best personalised gift for dog lovers

Arabella Horspool/Yours.co.uk
Price: $13.79 (was £22.99)

Whether they're heading off to uni and will miss their four-legged friend, or their pet has passed away and they want something to remember them by, the VistaPrint Pet Face Cushions is a fun option.

I chose this for a family member who says there aren't enough Jack Russell products around, so I thought I'd surprise them by adding our two JRTs to the cushion. The personalisation process was simple: you click on whether you want a small or large cushion, which shape you want, whether you want a soft touch or microfibre material, and how many cushions you want in total.

I then uploaded my images from my library and adjusted them to fit the cushion's shape. If an image is too blurry or low-quality, it will let you know, and you can retake it or choose another image if you wish. You can have the same image on both sides or upload two and have a different design on each side.

When the cushion arrived, I was pleased with the size and the softness. Some of the stitching seemed a tad off, but for a novelty product, it's pretty reasonable!

Pros

  • Wide range of options (shapes, sizes etc.)
  • Can personalise with a different image on each side

Cons

  • Stitching may be slightly off

Best Oodie for dog lovers

Dachshund Oodie™ OriginalOodie
Price: $32.50 (was £65)

theoodie.co.uk

Oodies are great for keeping warm on chilly days, thanks to the thick fleecy material. They're a cross between a dressing gown and a hoodie, and they've got a large pocket that is great for storing snacks, your phone, the TV remote, or your hands.

They come in many colours, patterns and designs, but I particularly adore the Dachshund Oodie™ Original. It's super soft and keeps me toasty, plus it's machine washable.

Pros

  • One size fits most
  • Washing machine friendly

Cons

  • May take a while to dry (as it's so thick)

Best dog bed for dog lovers

Arabella Horspool/Yours.co.uk

Everyone deserves a bit of luxury, even dogs, which is why I'd recommend the Charley Chau Dog Snuggle Bed in Velour. If they have a dog that was once bred to work underground or a dog who tends to burrow under the covers like my dachshund Otis does, they'll adore this bed.

The outer layer is made from velvety-soft Velvet, and inside, it's lined with faux fur fleece so that your dog can snuggle inside and stay nice and warm. You can also add a waterproof liner, in case they have any accidents or dribble a lot.

Otis adores snoozing in this bed and he clambers out and lays on the top when he gets too hot. Unlike other beds which can be an eyesore, the Dog Snuggle Bed blends in with the surroundings and looks super stylish. There are several colours to choose from, but I went for Midnight as it matches my sofa and doesn't show Otis's dark dog hair. Happy dog, happy owner!

Pros

  • Available in small, medium and large, different colours, with liner option
  • Dog can lay on top or inside the bed

Cons

  • Is pricey, but it's a high quality bed that will last a long time

Best festive gift for dog lovers

Arabella Horspool/Yours
Price: $5.95

Bring Christmas to their kitchen with this adorable Rex London Cotton tea towel which features an adorable festive sausage dog design. At 70 cm × 50 cm, it's nice and long, and I found it perfect for drying dishes big and small. It's also made from 100% cotton, which is super soft in your hands.

I like that it's machine washable, but I would prefer it if the towel had the print on both sides.

Best dog bowl gift for dog lovers

Toby testing the Mason Cash Reactive Paw BowlArabella Horspool/Yours.co.uk

Perfect for food or water, this Mason Cash Reactive Paw Bowl is simple and stylish and looks lovely in any kitchen. I have small dogs, so this 13x4cm is the ideal size to serve their food in, however, if you have larger dogs, they do have bigger bowls to choose from.

The bowl is shallow, which makes it easy for the dogs to eat out of. Its smooth surface can be washed and dried quickly, ready for the next meal. You can also put it in t the freezer or dishwasher, so it's very versatile.

Pros

  • Dishwasher and freezer safe
  • Shallow and stable

Cons

  • Not a multipack, so have to purchase separate one for water/food

I love that it's super stylish and unobtrusive, plus it can be clipped onto your bag like a keyring. We filled ours with the W'ZIS? Dog Treats Tin Postman & Roast dog treats.
