Buying the Vax Dual Power Pet carpet cleaner

I got my Vax via AO, and I have to say it was so simple. I chose the product I thought was the best fit for my home, the site features lots of reviews so you can see exactly what other customers thought, and with a 4.7/5 star rating, I decided this pet carpet cleaner would be best for me. Delivery was speedy, I was given an hour slot so I knew exactly when to expect the driver and I didn’t have to worry about hanging around all day. Ideal.

Testing the Vax Dual Power Pet Carpet Cleaner

I knew my carpets were dirty, but I didn’t realise how dirty until we used this Vax carpet cleaner! We have two dogs and two cats, and my partner works on a farm, so our carpets never really stood a chance against muddy paw prints and boots, not to mention the fur.

Our carpets are a grey colour that actually hides the dirt really well, but I still find myself vacuuming multiple times a week to try to keep some form of order.

Enter the Vax Dual Power Pet carpet cleaner – firstly it’s no bigger than our plug-in vacuum (we also have a cordless one for quicker clean-ups), and no heavier than our bulkier vacuum cleaner either. So for a carpet cleaner, a lot easier to manoeuvre than I’d expected.

I had no trouble carrying it up and down the stairs to give the upstairs carpets the once over. I’ve only ever hired carpet cleaners before – so I am comparing it to the bulky hires I suppose, but this was so much easier!

How to use the Vax Dual Power Pet Carpet Cleaner

As well as being easy to move about the house, the Vax Dual Power carpet cleaner is very simple to use. It comes with a user guide so you know exactly what to do.

You pop the cleaning solution into the top tank, add water, and away you go. There’s a trigger to pull as you go forward which sprays the treatment onto the carpet, then you let go as you pull back over the same spot and the cleaner vacuums up the dirty water. It’s so satisfying to use as you can actually see the dirt being pulled out of the carpet.

We could immediately see the difference on our carpets and it also cleaned up a cheap Ikea rug we’ve had for 7 or 8 years and it looks brand new (before and after pictures included below).

When you’ve got through all the solution, or the bottom tank becomes full, you simply pour it out, reattach it and start all over again.

On the first use, we had to clean out the rotating brush bar as it quickly got full of fur, but I think with regular uses this wouldn’t happen, and like I said we have a rather busy household. Also cleaning the brush bar was really simple to do. Overall I’m really impressed.

Final Verdict

Yours would recommend the Vax Dual Power Pet Carpet Cleaner.

As for downsides, it's probably on the storage element. Although it’s only as big as a vacuum cleaner, it is yet another piece of equipment to store in your home. You also have to factor in the drying time of the carpets, I think this model is around an hour – it didn’t affect us much though, we just put on our slippers.

Overall, it is worth the money. It did feel a bit plastic-y when we were assembling it but once it was all screwed together it felt a lot sturdier. I think for the cleaning power it gives it’s a brilliant price.

It also comes with cleaning solutions, all the tools you need for touching up the stairs or cleaning upholstery, and a pre-treatment wand – we didn’t actually use the pre-treatment wash, but it comes with a bottle of that too. There’s even a tool bag you can hang up to store the extras in, which was a really useful addition as there’s never anywhere to put the vacuum extras!

I already have recommended this cleaner to lots of my pet-owning friends!
