If you're looking for a way to instantly freshen up your garden, painting your fence is a really easy way to do so, even if it does feel a bid tedious.

Whether your fence is simply looking a bit weathered or you just fancy trying out a new colour, painting your fence can usually be done in a day so it won't be long until you get to step back and admire your handiwork.

What kind of paint do you use on a fence?

Wood paint is specially designed for being used on the likes of fences and it is tough, durable and in most cases, can also be wiped clean.

According to Homebase, "You’ll find plenty of paint products that can be used on exterior wood, as they are designed to be weather resistant and highly durable. These tend to be oil-based paints but it’s always best to check the product information which will state its intended use."

When to paint your fence

The best time to paint your fence is during the summer months because it’s dry and the paint will set better. We would recommended checking the weather forecast for at least 24 hours before applying paint because you should only paint your fence in dry conditions above 5°C as if it’s too cold, the paint won’t dry and you want to avoid any rain after you finish.
