Testing the Hypnia Supreme Hybrid mattress
Starting with the delivery process, I was really impressed with how quickly the mattress arrived. From the date you place your order, the typical delivery time is generally 24 to 72 hours. Communication was good, the delivery guys even called when they were 30 mins away. They were very friendly and professional, the only thing was they wouldn't take the mattress upstairs – although this did seem more down to the curve of my stairs and the baby gate, so I understood. They did bring the mattress inside for me, and with reinforcements (when my partner came home from work) we were able to carry it upstairs between us. It is a heavy mattress, as many hybrid models seem to be, and comes all tightly wrapped up ready to be unveiled. Top tip: don't make the mistake of removing the plastic packaging before it is in situ – it's harder to move once it's unrolled. You can pay extra to guarantee delivery to the room of your choice, and also for your old mattress to be removed.
Once the mattress was in place, we took off the wrapping and let it have a breather. It unfolds itself pretty quickly and we couldn't resist lying on it to see how it felt. The integrated mattress topper makes it look extra cosy, and we were both impressed by how comfortable it felt already. It was a few hours before bed, so we left the mattress to get acquainted with its new bedroom/home.
The mattress is firmer than we'd expected, which was a good surprise as we both prefer a firmer mattress. However, you still feel that comfort from the memory foam. We both suffer from bad backs but we've been much less achy recently.

We definitely noticed a difference in the quality of our sleep from night one, although the Hypnia website advises it can take a few days for you to get used to a new mattress. The biggest change from our old mattress was that when one of us moved or got up in the night, it doesn't jostle the bed. It makes a great improvement on both our sleep.
I've also seen an improvement in how hot I get at night, thanks to the bamboo fibres. At first I was a little worried that the extra bit of padding from the mattress topper would make it too soft and cosy, and as such too warm, but my worries were unfounded.
I'd have no hesitation in recommending this mattress, nor indeed this brand which I had not heard of before doing this review. It's reassuring to see that the products come fresh from their workshop in Chichester, and that they redistribute returned mattresses to people in need.
We all know that a new mattress is an investment, and we're all trying to survive this cost of living crisis so a new mattress may seem like a luxury. But if you're struggling to sleep well, it's an investment into your wellbeing. Also Hypnia offers some great sales (for example a back to school sale price offering 60% off at the time of writing!) so it's worth keeping an eye on their website for deals.
