Coffee machines have come so far in recent years, and it's never been easier to enjoy a barista-style coffee from the comfort of your own home.
One of the most popular brands of coffee machine is Nespresso. Not only are they competitive on price, but their coffee tastes delicious too, not to mention they're super easy to operate.
If you've got a Nespresso machine at home or if you're staying in a hotel or holiday home that has a Nespresso machine that you're not quite sure how to use (we've all been there pressing buttons until something happens), then we've put together a simple guide to get you your coffee in no time.
Firstly, you'll need to work out which type of Nespresso Machine you have. They do a fair few, so you might want to visit the Nespresso websiteif you're not sure which one you have.
When it comes to the pods, there are two different shapes of pod, one for the original models of the coffee machine and one for the Vertuo style, so it's important to know which one you have before you buy any pods.
Although there are many different kinds of machine, once you've got the hang of one they all work in a pretty similar way.
Step 1: Filling up the water tank
The first thing you need to do is to make sure the water tank is clean before filling it up with tap water at least half way. If you don't have enough water in the tank, you could risk scorching the coffee.
Step 2: Turn it on
The on button should either be on the front or on the top of the machine, depending on the model. The button will continue to flash for a short amount of time (less than 30 seconds) and when it's heated up, it will stop flashing.
Step 3: Prep your coffee
Pop a mug below the coffee spout. If it's your first attempt, you might want to go for a bigger mug than a smaller one, just in case a bit more comes out than you're expecting.
To insert the coffee capsule, you'll need to find where it needs to be inserted. Some machines have a detachable head and others have levers.
Once you've secured and locked the pod into place, you're ready to start making the coffee.
Step 4: Making the coffee
While some Nespresso machines just have one button, others may have several so you can dispense the right amount of coffee for your mug size. These buttons will usually be located either on the top or on the front of your machine.
Once you've pressed the button, the machine will start to pour the coffee out into your cup.
Step 5: Removing the capsule
You'll probably want to make a second coffee no doubt, but to do this you need to remove the current capsule. Some machines require you to open up the lever or lid where you inserted the first capsule and remove it manually, others drop into a used capsule container which you may need to empty depending on how many cups of coffee you're making.
Step 6: Customise your coffee
Like with any coffee, you might want to add milk, sugar or sweetener to taste. Some more expensive Nespresso machines come with a steam wand to froth the milk which is a real fancy addition.
