Although the elastic corners on many fitted sheets allow the sheet to remain tight on the mattress, they can be a nightmare to try and fold neatly away, so knowing how to fold a fitted sheet can make it much easier to put away your bed linen.

To help you out, we've put together this simple step by step guide for folding your fitted sheets with easy to follow instructions and a video to show you how.

How to fold a fitted sheet step-by-step

Step 1 - Hold your sheet up lengthways grabbing the two corners at the top from the inside of the sheet. Now flip the corners inside out so your hands are now on the outside and the elastic is facing the opposite way. Now turn the sheet around so that the elastic is facing you.

Step 2 - Put the corner in your right hand over the corner in your left hand to create an upside down L shape.

Step 3 - Swap your hands so your right hand is at the top and use your left hand to pick up the equal corners and straighten it out.

Step 4 - Fold the right hand corner over the left again to form another upside down L shape then straighten out into a rectangle again.

Step 5 - Find a flat surface and lay the sheet down. Fold in the uneven edge to create a straight side and fold in in again to create one long rectangle. Then fold it into thirds to create a perfect square.
