Functional and stylish, roller blinds are a popular choice for homes everywhere. Better yet, compared to other blind styles such as Venetian and vertical blinds, they're easy to clean as there are no annoying slats to have to dust and clean between and you don't have to remove the blind from the window to clean it.
If your roller blinds could do with a clean, here are the best ways to do it.
How to clean roller blinds - regular clean
• For a regular clean, roll your blind down all the way so that there are no folds and the fabric is flat.
• Holding the edge of the blind, use the upholstery brush cleaner of your vacuum cleanerfrom top to bottom as well as the backside.
• It is recommended to do this whenever you are doing a general house clean.
How to clean roller blinds - deep clean
• Instead of cleaning products, you should typically stick to warm soapy water when cleaning your roller blind. If you'd prefer, you can use a small amount of laundry detergent instead of soap.
• Dip a microfibre cloth into the warm soapy water, wring out the excess water and wipe your blind from top to bottom. You may need to return your rag to the water a few times.
• Grab another cloth and dunk this into a bowl of warm water without any soap. Wipe the blind fabric again with the clean water and then leave the blind to air dry before rolling back up.
How to clean roller blinds with stains
If your roller blind has some stubborn stains, you may want to consider using a stain remover, providing it can be used with the fabric your blind is made from. Use your chosen stain remover with a soft brush or old toothbrush and scrub gently to remove the stain. To avoid creating lines and making marks, you should brush in the direction of the fabric weave.
