I decided to test out this lumbar pillow, as I am looking for ways to be more comfortable when working at my computer at home. Like many of us, nowadays, I spend a lot of time at a computer, for both work and home tasks, and often experience back and neck discomfort by the end of the week. I already have a special chair with a built-in lumbar support in my home office, but this is a large piece of furniture and very cumbersome and pretty impossible to move around the house. I’m hoping this pillow will help support my posture when sitting at my laptop, when I work in different settings, eg at the dining table or another part of the house.
Pros
- Memory foam or gel that's extremely comfortable
- Soft and supportive so its's for long periods spent sitting
- Washable cover
- 4D mesh fabric that's breathable and keeps you cool
Cons
- Not easy to transport (too large to put it in your tote bag and hard work to squeeze back in its own bag)
- Won’t work with chairs that have a short seat
- It isn't the firmest option so it cannot provide ergonomic support for worsening posture issue
Dimensions: | 44cm L x 40cm W x 13cm D |
Straps: | 2 x 51cm straps with 45cm extension strap |

The Feagar pillow is mid-ranged in price and gets great ratings from consumers, so I decided this was the one to try for myself. It arrived neatly packed in a special carry case, which is needed if you want to transport it about, outside of your home. It’s a very tight fit inside the carry case, however, so I’m not sure how easy it will be to get back inside, but first impressions of the pillow are very good. The material is beautifully soft and the product felt quite luxurious.
Testing the Feagar Lumbar Pillow
As mentioned before, I spend a lot of time at a computer, during the day for work, and then again in the evening browsing websites and doing my own personal emails. This causes my back a lot of strain, as I often don’t sit very well, grabbing any chair and table space to hand!
Firstly, I found that this pillow does not work with all chairs, when you have the pillow behind you, it positions your whole body forwards on the seat, so you can feel a bit close to the front of the chair! However, it is extremely comfortable for your back and shoulders.

I didn’t realise where to position the pillow, initially I had it too low, but the instructions were very clear with diagrams to show the exact height it should be on your back. Once you get this right, it really sorts your posture out.
The straps are very easy to use, with elastic to fasten the pillow around the chair back and hold it in the correct position. I didn’t need the extension straps, but they are useful to have in case you want to position into a large armchair or car seat or such like.
The material is very good quality, a combination of mesh to allow air to breath and soft velvet. The memory foam gently but firmly corrects your posture, helping to stop you hunching over.
Final verdict
Overall, I think this pillow is really good at supporting your back when seated in different chairs around your home. You can easily move it around your home, unlike a special office chair! However, it is not helpful for a chair that already has a lumbar support.
I also think this could be brilliant if you have an uncomfortable car seat, luckily my car has lumbar support, so I didn’t try this out.

It’s unlikely that I’ll take it out of the house, although, you could pack it for holiday, and use on a plane, once you’ve wrestled it back into the carry case.
For me it worked best on my kitchen chairs, for when I wanted to be with my family, but doing work on my computer.
Feagar offer a “no questions asked” 30-day money back guarantee, so there doesn’t seem any risk to trying it out and seeing if it works for you. Anything that can help your posture is a good thing in my book!
