How did this product make your life easier?

The Dyson Hot Cool Formaldehyde purifier is an instant hit for any home. This clever piece of technology will fill a room of your choice with air so crisp and clean that you almost want to take a bite from it.

The product was very easy to put together, you simply clip in the two heavy-duty filters, set up the small but convenient remote and plug it in! Nothing more to it. You will immediately notice the difference when the first blast of cool, fresh air hits you. If you close your eyes and take a deep breath it almost feels like you are in an open, clean, outdoor space and your room will start to feel instantly like a nicer place to be.

I set up the purifier in the bedroom as this seemed to make the most sense. I was keen to see also given the time of year, the impact this had on my annual fight against the flower and grass pollen that has plagued me for many years. At first, I really noticed the difference. Waking up in the morning felt more comfortable and without sharing the gory details with you, I felt less congested as if I had been chewing menthol all night!

After a few days, it became less noticeable but I think this was only because my body had adjusted. I was tempted to turn it off for a few days to see if I noticed the difference but I really didn’t want to as this is not just a purifier, it is also a perfectly balanced cooling/heating fan.

We have all had the glorious experience of waking up after a hot summer’s night with the bog-standard rotary fan blowing in our face only to realise our eyes and mouths are dryer than the Sahara. Well, truthfully, I did not find this to be the case with the Dyson purifier. There was no need to turn it up to gale-force settings to feel the effects and despite some of the high temperatures that we have had recently in the UK, it was still pumping out cool, crisp air.

Dyson Purifier Hot+Cool Formaldehyde

The Dyson hot Cool Formaldehyde Purifier has some brilliant features and like most things nowadays, has a brilliant app which I will talk about first. Setting up the app was quick and simple and it gives you full control of your device instead of using the included remote if you so choose. There are plenty of functions including “night mode” which keeps the machine working but not too loudly, full oscillation control ranging from 45 degrees to 350 degrees and full directional control also. You can also change the direction of the airflow from a forward blast to an outward burst which gives you the same results without blowing air directly at you. Don’t be fooled by what I have said already though, the Dyson Purifier is more than capable of immersing you in a tornado-like environment if that is your thing and has up to 10-speed settings.

Now the super techy bit for all you analysts out there. This is also where I would make a slight change to the product also. The information Within the app, you have the ability to monitor your air quality. Now, this is not something that I would usually be interested in and I tend to prefer the physical functionalities of a product but this is an impressive feature I must say.

The sensors built into the Dyson Hot Cool Formaldehyde Purifier pick up on various things including; general air quality, the level of microscopic air pollutants including PM2.5, PM10, VOC’s, NO2 and HCHO and the humidity and temperature of your room throughout the day/night. Based on these readings, in auto mode the Dyson Purifier will adjust itself to counter any rise in any of the above so you don’t need to worry about wasting electricity by leaving it switched on through the day and night. One thing that is really important to remember and get into the habit of doing, is shutting the door to whichever room you use this device in as this will ensure you get the full benefit and the app talks you through getting the best results during setup.

Would you recommend this product?

So, is this product just a glorified fan with a hefty price-tag and a fancy design? Perhaps not. I see this product as a specialist item. I really believe the Dyson Hot Cool Formaldehyde Purifier has the power to positively enhance a person’s quality of life. If you have trouble sleeping due to poor congestion, if you suffer from allergies or if you are really keen to reduce the number of airborne pollutants that you come into contact with then this product is well worth paying the money for as you really will feel the difference in yourself and I so I would recommend this product.

Would you choose this product above all others on the market?

If you are looking to purchase a fan to keep you cool on those rare British summer nights then you may be better off purchasing something that does just that and there are some really good quality, less-expensive options out there. But, for the right person with a specific need, this product is absolutely not a glorified fan, instead, it is a game-changer and for that reason, I would choose it above other products.

What changes would you make to this product?

Honestly? Absolutely none. Sure, a lower price is always going to be attractive but in my eyes, it's a worthy price.
