The prospect of purchasing a new mattress is always quite daunting. However, we all know that getting a good night’s sleep is essential and The Better Sleep Council recommend that we change our mattress every seven to ten years. So without doing a bit of research first, buying the wrong mattress could lead to sleepless nights and feeling achey in the morning.

When it comes to simplicity, the Dreamcloud Luxury Hybrid Mattress is a bed-in-a-box mattress that’s only available online, removing the painful task of visiting in-store, waiting weeks for delivery, and can arrive to your home within days.

It’s also the first bed-in-a box I’ve come across to have a luxury quilted and double tufted cooling cover designed with premium softness that is engineered to be breathable, a feature you usually only see on in-store mattresses. Made from five layers of support memory foam as well as 15cms premium pocket sprung technology.

For a double-size mattress it arrived in a small, conveniently sized box. Although fairly heavy, the two very helpful delivery men kindly carried it upstairs for me, and the removal of my old mattress was straight forward.

Inside the box, the mattress rolled in plastic is vacuumed-packed flat, which then needs to be carefully cut open using the sharp blade provided. The mattress slowly starts to inflate itself as you roll it out on the bed and will take some time to fill out to its full depth.

The one thing I did notice was the smell. Most new mattresses will have a certain chemical odour when they are first delivered. This is especially true for those that come in a box, rolled up and vacuum-sealed, because the lack of airflow through the package can cause the new mattress smell to become concentrated caused by a process called off-gassing. For this reason the manufacturers advise you to leave the mattress for at least 5 hours before sleeping on it to allow it to breath and fully inflate. It will continue to expand over the next 24-48 hours.

I have been sleeping on the Dreamcloud Luxury Hybrid Mattress for 3 months now and can honestly say it is the ‘most comfortable mattress I've ever slept on’. It's comfy, supportive, warm mattress moulds to the body, relieving pressure on joints. After years of extremely unsettled sleep I now sleep the whole night through. It’s so comfortable, that I often don’t want to get out of bed in the morning.

If you tend to be quite fussy about your mattress, the Dreamcloud UK mattress comes with a 365 night trial, that means you can try it out in the comfort of your own home (because 10 minutes in-store just isn’t enough to be sure). Most sleep experts recommend you try out a mattress for at least 3-6 weeks and 52 weeks is more than enough. A British product manufactured and shipped within the UK.
