If menopausal hot flushes are a factor in your life you’ll want a reliable and quick way to cool down, and this bladeless fan could be just the thing.

How did this product make your life easier?

With retro stying that looks a little like a 1970s TV (without the screen) I can imagine this fan won’t be to everyone’s taste, but I quike like its quirky looks. It comes boxed in two parts and you’re left to attach the head to the base. Other then that set up is as simple as plug in and press go.

The first thing I noticed is that the fan is absolutely whisper quiet. Having no blades means that there’s an absence of that mechanical clunking you get with bladed fans. With eight wind speeds the fan will take you from gentle breeze to icy blast at the touch of a button. The fan does get noticeably louder as you increase the wind speed but, even on the highest setting, it’s considerably quieter than a conventional bladed fan.

The other big advantage of this design is safety. With no blades there’s no danger of anything getting caught or tangled. Plus there’s an easy-to-activate child lock to prevent it being turned on accidentally. There’s also an 8 hour timer – so if the fan is accidentally left on for any reason it will automatically shut off after the set time period.

The fan can be set to be stationary or travel through a wide, 70° rotation, to better distribute the air around the room.

Would you recommend this product?

Absolutely! My favourite aspect is the remote control. It may seem lazy but as a menopausal woman, whose temperature varies wildly from minute to minute, being able to turn the fan up and down so easily is an absolute godsend. I also really appreciated how quiet it is. I like to have a fan by the bed in case of night sweats, and to have one that’s effective and almost silent was a bonus.

Would you choose this product above all others on the market?

I haven’t tried other bladeless fans, so I can’t compare, but I’d definitely chose this model over any bladed fan I’ve tried. It’s quiet, effective and feels very safe to use.

What changes would you make to this product?

I was surprised at having to assemble the fan on arrival. Although the instructions were easy to follow the unit is quite heavy and having to lift it to slot on to the base could prove tricky for some people. The weight could be an issue too if you want to be able to move the fan regularly from room to room because the shape is quite bulky and not particularly easy to carry. My biggest bugbear though is the tilt mechanism. It feels quite stiff and clunky and only tilts upwards through 30°. There’s no option to tilt downwards, for example if you wanted to place the fan on a bedside table and angle down toward the bed.
