A water butt is a great garden investment, especially as we get plenty of wet weather here in the UK. There are many benefits to buying the best water butt, as not only will it provide you with an eco-friendly way to water your plants, which in turn will reduce your carbon footprint, but it can also end upsaving you some money too when it comes to the water bill.
We have scoured the internet to find the best water units that will help your garden flourish.
How do they work?
All of the rainwater from the sky usually falls from the roof into the downpipes and then down the drain. A water butt works by redirecting that water into a storage unit.
They come in a variety of sizes and materials (plastic, steel, stone), with some able to hold up to 350 litres of rainwater. This water can then be used to water plants, tend to crops, and top up water features.
Best water butts

Verified customer review: "Used with 10 x 8 greenhouse and filled within 2 days! Heavy rain! Keeping greenhouse watered 4-6 watering cans per day. Hoping rain will let up sometime! Left lids off for now. Will use connector if this level of rainfall persists (add another butt). Very pleased and the taps work well!"

This 210 litre capacity water butt has a tap included and lockable lid. Amazon reviewers absolutely love this water storage unit. It has been made from durable weather-resistant plastic.
Verified customer review: "Delivered a day before the date suggested being delivered, and undamaged despite flimsy packaging. All it required was a 24mm hole drilling for a feed pipe to be fitted - not included. The tap worked fine and did not drip, so, as regards to some of the previous reviews, I've done very well. I'm pleased with it and would recommend others buying one. Put it on a sturdy level base to ensure stability and pray for rain !!"

Can you drink the water collected?
It is not a good idea to drink any collected water. Although it is fine to water your plants, rainwater can carry bacteria that could make you feel very unwell. You should always drink fresh clean water from a tap or bottled water.
