Untamed Defrizz Hair Dryer: overview

Along with the hair dryer, you get three bottles (5ml) of Argan Oil that you can connect up to the dryer, as well as three dryer nozzles. These are the Argan Oil spritzing nozzle, slim nozzle and super slim nozzle for precision blow drying.

Testing out the Untamed Defrizz

I was a little sceptical about this hairdryer, assuming that it might be a bit gimmicky. I’m pleased to say I was very wrong. Firstly, the hairdryer itself is very good alone (without the argan oil). It feels powerful, as has three heat and power settings that give the same quick results as a hair dryer brush would. The Untamed also comes with the same ionic and ceramic hair-smoothing technology that I’d expect from a quality dryer. It also looks great, which with the success of the Dyson Supersonic, shows that people like a gorgeous-looking dryer.

The best bit though is the argan oil feature. To add the argan oil, you unscrew the lid, add the diffuser (silver side facing up) and then screw this into the special nozzle.

Attach the nozzle to your dryer with the argan oil on the top. I was terrified at this point, that the oil might drip out onto my bedroom carpet, but it didn’t! Do be careful though and make sure it’s screwed properly into the nozzle, as it did fall out once when I was styling.

To get the most from the diffuser you should use on the hottest and fastest setting and keep it moving across the hair. You can see whether it’s diffusing by practising on your hand first.

My hair is fine and prone to flatness and gets greasy fairly quickly. Therefore, I used the argan oil feature sparingly with good results. It was left smooth, shiny and not at all greasy.

In comparison, my daughter’s hair is slightly curly, dry and prone to frizz, so I was a lot more heavy-handed with hers and saw excellent results. It left her hair smooth, silky, shiny and less prone to knots. The results lasted a few days, too, and she liked to style her locks with a hair waver tool afterwards.

The tiny argan oil bottles do run out quickly and currently, the brand doesn’t do refills (watch this space though), but you can top them up with any good argan oil from the likes of Boots or Superdrug.

Untamed Defrizz Hair Dryer: our final verdict...

Clever hair-drying technology that is brilliant for dry, coarse, fluffy or frizzy locks. A great price, too. You could probably get good results from a normal hairdryer and a spritz of argan oil before styling, but the beauty of this hairdryer is it evenly coats each strand for smoother, more even results.
