10 quick makeup tips

Use a foundation stick

The quickest way of applying a base or adding some coverage is using a foundation stick. These can be quickly applied to the skin and easily blended out using your fingers or a brush if you have one to hand. One of our favourite foundations for mature skin that come in stick form is the bareMinerals foundation stick that's ideal for dry skin.

Ideal for on the go application, this foundation stick is vegan friendly, hydrating and has SPF 25. With medium coverage, it's a buildable formula that's suitable for both day and night wear and an ideal foundation for mature skin.

Pros

  • Contains SPF
  • Good for dry skin

Cons

  • Some reviewers commented that it didn't last as well as other foundations

Exfoliate your lips

A smooth lip can not only make your lips look more youthful and healthier, it can also plump out your lips too, making them look fuller and it makes lipstick and gloss much easier to apply. To exfoliate, simply rub your lips with a flannel or muslin cloth to remove any dead skin then add a soothing balm to soften.

Use face tan to bronze and contour

If you know you're going to be short of time the night before, grab a makeup brush and use some fake tan to bronze your face ahead of time. You can use a body tan or face tan to achieve this look. Simply use a small amount to blend tan into the spots where the sun normally hits such as the head or where you would normally contour your face, just above the hollows of the cheeks and a little across the nose. Leave on overnight and wash off in the morning for a natural bronzed look that'll make you look instantly put together. Alternatively, you can use some tanning drops mixed into your face cream to bronzer your complexion.

Simply add these drops to your evening moisturiser and wake up with a bronzed glow. You can add more drops depending how deep you want your tan. Just make sure you always wash your hands after applying to avoid any tan staining your hands and be sure to do a patch test before using on your face.
