There’s nothing like a little calm and relaxation to help us feel at our best, and for that reason, we love a spa break in the UK. We took a visit to Moddershall Oaks in the West Midlands to see what this UK staycation was like.

Where is Moddershall Oaks?

Moddershall is located in the West Midlands countryside, not too far from Stoke.

Where will I sleep at Moddershall Oaks?

There are 10 bedrooms at the 5* rated hotel, and adapted rooms which are suitable for guests with disabilities.

The rooms were very spacious and modern with a large seating area and table to relax. The beds were comfortable, and the room had tea and coffee making facilities, plus a dressing area and a bright bathroom complete with a bath. Rooms also come with their own private outdoor area which is a lovely addition if the weather is good.

What is there to do at Moddershall Oaks?

Sleep-lounge

As far as spas go, Moddershall is on the cosier side. Indoors, there is a sleep room, relaxation room, sauna, steam room, jacuzzi, foot spa, heated loungers, large pool, experience shower plus a café and restaurant and of course, the treatment area. There is also a small shop area where you can buy any products you’ve enjoyed during your stay.

Outdoors, Moddershall is set in picturesque countryside, with tennis courts, outdoor sun loungers, outdoor pool and seating area and an outdoor jacuzzi reserved for overnight guests only.

With an outdoor heated vitality spa pool, relaxation lounge, kelo sauna, 10m swimming pool, steam room with eucalyptus milk infused steam, hydrotherapy pool, experience shower, reflexology footbath, heated loungers (our favourite feature), sleep lounges, and MADE wellness centre, there is something for everyone to enjoy.

What is there to eat at Moddershall?

You’ll never go hungry at Moddershall with food and snacks available all day. On arrival, guests are greeted in the café with a non-alcoholic drink. At this point, you can have a bite to eat before you begin your spa experience or get into your robes. The flexibility of eating whenever and wherever you feel like it was brilliant.

The café offers a large choice of sandwiches, snacks, cakes and drinks that should keep you going throughout the day before dinner. The evening meal is served in the restaurant, which is also open to the public. The staff were all very friendly and helpful and the cocktails in particular are definitely worth sampling.

Breakfast was delicious with a wide choice of hot and cold breakfast options. Again, the staff were really lovely at breakfast time too, and there was a very relaxing atmosphere.

Coronavirus guidelines at Moddershall

Understandably, there have been a few changes at Moddershall to account for the Coronavirus guidelines. Thankfully we did not find these to take away from the experience. Masks are worn throughout the facilities and hotel and are only to be removed during eating, drinking, in the pools and spa activities and during facial treatments.

There is plenty of hand sanitiser stations around the spa for guests and staff to use.

The sauna and steam room were available to book, so just you and your party were able to book in 20-minute slots to avoid coming into contact with others which worked really well.

You can read Moddershall’s Covid-19 policy here.
