Now under the proud ownership of The Q Hotel Collection (a selection of 21, 4* hotels and resorts who a passion for above-and-beyond service, eye-catching surroundings and unforgettable experiences), we visit the dog-friendly Chesford Grange Hotel, to see if it’s worthy of consideration for anyone wanting a stay in lovely Warwickshire.
Where is Chesford Grange Hotel and are there any local attractions?
Chesford Grange is in the heart of Shakespeare’s County, in the historic market town of Kenilworth. Kenilworth is home to the English Heritage run Kenilworth Castle that was formerly a medieval castle turned Elizabethan Palace and boasts 900 years of historic interest!
Kenilworth is close to Warwick Castle , Abbey Fields (Nature and Wildlife), Stoneleigh Abbey, Victoria Park and the Royal Pump Rooms (Leamington Spa) to name but a few. If you are a foodie, there are plenty a tea rooms and restaurants to entice your taste buds.
Where will I sleep and what is there to do at the hotel?
Choose from a Classic, Deluxe, King Superior or Suite, all the rooms are stylishly and comfortably furnished.
We stayed in a Suite which was large and airy and full of all the mod-cons we’ve come to expect. We loved the fact the TV, whilst a good size, didn’t dominate the room and the bathroom, complete with toiletries, was spacious too. The only downside to the room was the fact that it was a bit of a job to get into the shower (you had to step into the bath, which had ample sides to clamber over), so if you have mobility problems, you may want to check with the hotel as to which rooms are best for your needs.
As there the hotel is so well situated, you may not want to leave your four-legged friend behind on all those lovely Warwickshire walks. If that’s the case, then fear not, for an extra £20 a night, you can bring your furry family member along for the stay too!
Whilst the hotel doesn’t have much by way of country grounds to help pass the time in, it does boast a health club and spa, so if relaxation if your thing, then you don’t even have to leave the hotel!
Where will I eat at Chesford Grange Hotel?
The variety at breakfast was ample enough and certainly gave us the best start to the day’s adventures but a highlight of our stay was definitely the River Room restaurant.
The staff were friendly and attentive, the restaurant itself, warm and unimposing. The food was delicious! If you have an allergen (gluten intolerance in our party), the restaurant can accommodate and whip up something tasty for you (please check beforehand as to whether then can cater for a particular allergy). At £28 for a dinner package (3 courses), it was well worth the money.
How much is a room?
The hotel is running a number of offers at the moment - check out the latest ones at the Chesford Grange Hotel website www.chesfordgrange.com but to give you an idea, the lowest room rate starting in November is from £112.10 or £134.90 if you want breakfast included.
Final thoughts?
With this hotel, apart from the friendly customer service, a cosy atmosphere near the bar area, great restaurant and being pet friendly, this hotel really is all about the location, location, location!
