Marilyn Monroe gold dress in Gentleman Prefer Blondes
This iconic gold number with a deep V neckline and sun-ray pleats is quite the showstopper. Marilyn wore this in Gentleman Prefer Blondes, and although the scene was only shown for a few short moments, the image of Marilyn in this dress still remains an iconic moment in both film and fashion. The dress was able to drape so beautifully over Marilyn's iconic curves as dress designer William Travilla made the decision to sew the dress whilst Marilyn was wearing it, which is a fashion move that definitely paid off.
2.
Marilyn Monroe's dress to sing happy birthday to president JFK
At the time, this skin tight, flesh coloured dress was a very brave and bold fashion decision. Rumours of a romance between the then President of the United States and the actress were circulating at the time, so when Marilyn appeared in the dress to sing a rather sensual rendition of happy birthday to the President, many took it as a confirmation of the rumours. This iconic dress was also recently worn by Kim Kardashian at the Met Gala.

Some Like It Hot dress
Perhaps one of her most famous films, here is Marilyn starring in Some Like It Hot in a stunning black and nude sequinned dress. While the style is very reminiscent of the old flapper style dresses, it's much more form fitting in its structure with some rather strategically placed beads and sequins to cover certain areas of Marilyn's body. Rumour has it that Marilyn had to be lifted onto the piano to film the famous scene she wears this dress in as it was so close fitting.
