First introduced in the fifth episode of series 8 of Call the Midwife as mechanic Cyril Robinson, if you're a fan of the much-loved BBC show, you'll no doubt recognise Zephryn Taitte who is of British Guayanese heritage.

Zephryn Taitte in Call the Midwife
Zephyrn's character Cyril first makes an appearance when Phyllis hires him to fix her car. He soon meets Nurse Lucille Robinson, played by Leonie Elliott and falls in love. After a slow courtship, we loved watching the couple marry in the 2021 Christmas Special.
Sadly, the couple have had a bumpy ride since their marriage including a miscarriage, a nervous breakdown and even separation at the end of series 12.
When asked what was in store for this character in series 14, Zephryn teased eager fans and responded by saying that Cyril is going to be “in a lot of trouble”, building further anticipation about the plot.
True to his words, the storyline took a turn in series 14 of Call The Midwife, when Cyril and Nurse Rosalind Clifford (played by Natalie Quarry) got closer after helping homeless people in their community. This is while Lucille has returned to Jamaica for a break to recover mentally from the miscarriage. Rosalind is beginning to open up about the fact that she harbours deeper feelings for him. However, Cyril leaves on a trip to Jamaica to visit his wife, but will he return to Poplar?
This cliff-hanger has left fans of the show contemplating if Cyril would officially separate from him wife or pursue the growing affections of Rosalind. There is a lot of appreciation about the natural chemistry between the two actors and the slow-burn development of their professional and personal relationship.
The show is all set to come back with series 15, although an official release date is yet to be announced. But we are excited to see how Cyril's relationship with Rosalind blossoms and what that means for his marriage to Lucille.

On several occasions, Zephryn has shared that he holds this character in very high regard, saying that Cyril is a “lovely, caring, emotionally intelligent man” who has found his purpose in helping people in need and giving back to society. He has once said that he even “aspires to be more like Cyril”.
In terms of how he did his research and prepared to take on this role, Zephryn mentioned that he has spoken to people working in similar fields, including his mum who used to work for Victim Support. He added that he works with social workers too which helped him draw from his own experiences as well.
