You may know her from hit shows such as Line of Duty, Trigger Point, and This Is England. Now, actress Vicky McClure is leading the cast of Insomnia, a new drama on Paramount Plus based on Sarah Pinborough's bestselling book.
What is the series Insomnia about?
In Insomnia, Vicky McClure (Without Sin) plays Emma Averill, a career-driven woman who seems to have the perfect life she's worked hard for until she begins to fear that she's losing her mind.
The synopsis says: "A couple of weeks before her 40th birthday, Emma stops sleeping - just as her mother had done right before she suffered a violent psychotic breakdown on the night of her own 40th birthday. Emma’s mother always told her she’d go the same way, that she had the same 'bad blood', and now Emma’s terrified it’s true."
"As events worsen, Emma’s world starts to unravel, and she realises that only by investigating the truth of her painful past can she find the answers to her present and prevent tragedy from striking a second time."
Paramount+ have released some first look images and from what we can tell so far, this is certainly going to be a suspenseful, psychological thriller.
