ITV has announced that they've recommissioned the high-octane TV drama Trigger Point for series 3, which comes as no surprise as the show garnered an average of 8.1m viewers across the series, becoming the channel's second most-watched show of the year (after Mr Bates vs The Post Office).
Line of Duty and This is England star Vicky McClure will be back as Lana Washington, a bomb disposal operative or ‘expo’.
What will series 3 of Trigger Point be about?
In this third series of Trigger Point, "Explosives Officer Lana Washington and her team are called to investigate a bomb threat that soon reveals itself to be the start of a sinister vendetta. Someone is targeting individuals, and demanding revenge. Working alongside the Police Counterterrorism Unit, the Bomb Disposal Squad race against time to find the bomber before they claim their next victim."

So far, ITV have announced the return of five cast members:

• Maanuv Thiara (DI Ray, Line of Duty) as DI Amar Batra
Who writes Trigger Point?
The lead writer for Trigger Point series 3 is Chris Brandon (who writes Bloodlands, starring James Nesbitt) and the show is produced by Jed Mercurio’s HTM Television. Jed (who writes Line of Duty) is also an executive producer, alongside Daniel Walker (The Tourist, Boat Story), Jessica Sharkey (Breathtaking, Derry Girls), Chris Brandon and Vicky McClure.
Jamie Donoghue (Doctor Who, A Discovery of Witches) and Audrey Cooke (Trigger Point, DI Ray) are the directors and the producer is Kristian Dench (Red Eye).
