The popular talent hunt reality show The Voice UK has taken over screens and the love of audiences for over a decade now. Returning after a very successful season, The Voice UK 2024 is all set to come back with its thirteenth series, which will premiere on the 31st August 2024 on ITV.

Adapted from its American counterpart, The Voice UK was originally created by John de Mol (the mastermind behind the show Big Brother) and it is based on the Dutch TV programme The Voice of Holland. The show has since then seen an impressive panel of judges or coaches as they are referred to, including Sir Tom Jones and will.i.am from Black Eyes Peas who have remained constant throughout.

The latest series will feature three new coaches – LeAnn Rimes, American singer and songwriter who's best known for hit songs ‘Blue’ and ‘How Do I Live’, along with McFly’s Tom Fletcher and Danny Jones who will be sharing the double chair. They will join Sir Tom Jones and will.i.am who will be returning again for the season.

The press launch for The Voice UK 2024 ahead of its official return in August took place recently where the first episode of the series was screened, followed by a Q&A session with all the coaches.

When asked about what will be new in this series, Sir Tom Jones said, “This will be my twelfth year in the game now and I find every series as new as the last. This time it is happening in Manchester and the audience is so good. That’s what makes it fresh, the new audience, new singers, new talent, it’s all part of it.”

In honour of this, all the coaches had also performed ‘Midnight Sky’ by Miley Cyrus at Old Trafford as a teaser ahead of the official release of the series.

LeAnn Rimes also shared her experience of being on the show for the first time.

“I have been having a blast, as you can clearly see from the first episode. You also never know what’s going to happen. They just send you out there and say, ‘have at it’. The talent was brilliant and it always breaks my heart to see the contestants we didn’t turn for as we don’t get to see them until we watch the episodes.”

“For me, it’s always about feeling, like do you make me cry, do you give me chills, can you communicate with what you’re singing and hit my heart. That’s how you draw people in, that’s the magic,” she added when asked about what makes a performance click for her.

Tom Fletcher and Danny Jones who will be sharing the double chair this time spoke about their experience as well.

“We have been standing on stage with each other for almost 21 years now, so sharing the chair is the easy bit. The hard part is feeling the pressure of someone’s career in our hands. We feel very privileged to be sitting in that chair and sharing our experience. The most of it is making someone believe in themselves and realise their potential.”

“On the odd occasion when I can tell that Danny is feeling good about someone and I am not. I just have to trust him, that he’s probably heard something I haven’t,” Tom added.

When asked about what the audience can expect from their teams, Sir Tome Jones said, “Surprises, because they surprised me. You start off thinking you have an idea about who might get through to the finals. But my team has definitely surprised me and I hope they will surprise you too.”

“I have got really unique artists on my team and what I really loved was that they all knew who they were. This made it really hard for me to cut down as we went forward,” LeAnn Rimes added.

If the first episode is any indicator, the contestant line-up for this series is going to be a brilliant one. With the stellar panel of coaches and their penchant for joining the musical extravaganza with a song or two every now and then, make sure you don’t miss the first episode of The Voice UK 2024 which is set to air on Saturday, August 31 at 8 pm on ITV1. Stay tuned!
