Who'd have thought a show about restoring old sentimental belongings would be so popular? The cast of The Repair Shop has been on our screens since 2017 and sees a group of very talented experts bring old belongings back to life with their specialist restoration skills.
With so many different experts specialising in so many different areas, it can be hard to remember who they all are when you're caught up in the story of a sentimental item. To help you get to know the experts a little better, we've rounded up the regulars and found out a bit more about them and their backgrounds.
Cast of The Repair Shop
Jay Blades
Jay Blades has become hugely popular since presenting the show. It's his job to welcome the guests and find out more about their items and then oversee the work that is done on them.
Restoration is something Jay is hugely passionate about, and he even has his own restoration business. You can have a look at all his projects over on his Instagram: @jaybladesmbe.
Will Kirk
Will is a craftsman and the go-to guy for anything in wood restoration. Will grew up watching his granddad in his workshop, so it's no surprise he was keen to follow in his footsteps.
He studied Graphic Design and Antique Furniture Restoration and Conservation at the University of the Arts and London Metropolitan University, so he knows a thing or two about restoration.
Steve Fletcher
Steve probably has the most fascinating job in The Repair Shop of repairing clocks which is known as a horologist.
His father was also a horologist, so it's understandable why Steve ended up being a specialist in this area too.
Suzie Fletcher
Suzie Fletcher joined the show after her brother Steve persuaded her to take part following the very sad death of her husband.
She specialises in leather restoration, especially equestrian equipment and is full of lots of great upcycling tips. Speaking to the BBC about her role on the show, she said, "I'm so happy I did as this is one of the most enjoyable things I've ever been involved with. It's also helped me through some very dark days."
Kirsten Ramsay
As the resident ceramic expert, Kirsten can repair even the most fragile of cracks. She learned her craft at West Dean College and later worked at the conservation department at the British Museum in London.
Dominic Chinea
Dominic is a graphic designer that specialises in design and car restoration, drawing in on his construction and problem-solving skills on the show.
Amanda Middleditch
Our personal favourite on the show - Teddy Bear restoration! Amanda is one half of the teddy bear restoring team, repairing people's sentimental teddy bears.
Julie Tatchell
Julie is the other half of the teddy bear team, joining Amanda in series two.
The pair have their own bear restoration business called Bear It In Mind and also host their own podcast, Bearly Begun.
Lucia Scalisi
For those who have old art pieces that need repairing, Lucia is your lady, and she can bring neglected art pieces back to life with her skills.
She has worked as a Senior Conservator of Paintings at the V&A Museum and also the Chief Restorer at the Calcutta Tercentenary Trust in India.
Brenton West
With over 40 years of experience in silversmithing, Brenton is on hand to help with anyone's silver needs. He also has a huge passion for photography too!
Sonnaz Nooranvary
Sonnaz is the upholsterer for The Repair Shop and is tasked with giving pieces of furniture a new lease of life. Having been part of the show since 2017 when it launched, Sonnaz is British-Iranian and comes from Dorset, where she decided to pursue upholstery after quitting her law degree at university.
Who narrates The Repair Shop?
The Repair Shop has been narrated by both Bill Paterson and Robert Pugh. While Bill voiced the first series, his role was taken over by Robert for series two, three and four. In series five, Bill returned as narrator and has been a regular ever since.
Where is The Repair Shop filmed?
The show is recorded at the Weald and Downland Living Museum in Singleton, West Sussex. According to the Museum's website, you are able to visit the location, but only on certain dates: 'Whilst the area around the barn is closed to the public during filming, on selected dates you can pop your head inside and take a look at the production set.'
When is The Repair Shop on?
A brand new series of The Repair Shop starts on the 14th August on BBC One and iPlayer.
