We're all used to those classic daytime TV shows that have been running for donkey's years but when journalist and broadcaster Steph McGovern launched a brand new show in 2020, many of us were interested in how it would be received.

The Steph Show

First launched in 2020, Steph's Packed Lunch was originally named The Steph Show. Due to the coronavirus lockdown, the show was broadcasted from Steph's own house in Harrogate rather than the custom-built studio in Leeds.

Understandably, this caused logistical problems and the show was taken off the air before it was later announced in Summer 2020 that The Steph Show had been rebranded as Steph's Packed Lunch.

Steph's Packed Lunch

The newly named Steph's Packed Lunch aired on 14 September 2020 from Leeds Dock. The show is broadcast live in front of a studio audience and combines celebrity guests, cookery, news, real-life features and consumer advice.

Steph's Packed Lunch presenters

Although the show is hosted by ex-BBC Breakfast presenter Steph, she is often joined by regular guest presenters. These include...

Gemma Atkinson

Actress and drive time host of Hits Radio, Gemma has appeared on our screens in several TV shows such as Hollyoakes, Casualty and Emmerdale.

John Whaite

Although he's currently taking part in Strictly Come Dancing, John is best known as a former winner of Great British Bake Off. Along with presenting cookery segments on Steph's Packed Lunch, John is also an author with four cookery books.

Vogue Williams

Irish model and media personality Vogue has appeared in Bear Grylls: Mission Survive, Dancing with the Stars in Australia and in the fourth series of The Jump on Channel 4.

Russell Kane

Writer and comedian Russell is a regular face on Steph's Packed Lunch where he presents the News at One segment, running through the day's headlines.

Joe Lycett

In July 2021, comedian Joe Lycett stormed off the set of Steph's Packed Lunch as a stunt for raising awareness of white plastics and recycling for his consumer show Joe Lycett's Got Your Back. As predicted, the stunt led to lots of headlines in the newspapers

Explaining more in a statement on Twitter, Joe later appeared on the show the day after to explain more.

He revealed: "Loads of your production team didn’t know this but it was a stunt for a very good cause."

"I even got a text from my dad!" Steph added.

Steph's packed lunch recipes

The show often features a variety of different recipes from chefs such as Simon Rimmer, Jack Stein, Ruby Bhogal and more. You can find the recipes for the dishes featured on the show on their Instagram account.

Steph's Packed Lunch is recommissioned

We were pleased to hear 'Steph’s Packed Lunch' has been recommissioned by Channel 4. A contract has been secured to keep making the 100-minute daytime show through 2022.

Steph said: “I love making 'Steph’s Packed Lunch'! It’s so nice to work alongside my fab onscreen family and the amazing team who graft so hard behind the scenes. Together we’ve done some great things I’m really proud of; from encouraging women to have a smear test – I even had mine live on TV! – to helping people get back into work through our Job Clinic. We’ve tackled so many real issues that affect all our lives, welcomed so many big celeb names to Leeds Dock and met shed loads of inspirational people. I’m buzzing that we’re going to keep doing it next year!"
