'Tonight Matthew, i'm going to be...' has become a household catchphrase thanks to the very popular talent show series, 'Stars in their Eyes'. The show originally ran from 1990 until 2006, but it's now been revealed that the show will have a revival.

And we're not surprised it's coming back - what's more enjoyable than watching people live out their dreams on stage as their favourite pop star?

This Stars in Their Eyes theme tune brings back some memories...

Over the years we've seen Freddy Mercury's, Shirley Bassey's and Elvis Presley's grace the stage, often with a surprisingly good performance.

We've rounded up a few of our favourite performances from over the years to get us excited about the new series.

Stars in Their Eyes reboot

We're so pleased to hear Stars in Their Eyes is being rebooted. The new talent show will be called 'Starstruck' with Olly Murs as its host.

The talent show will also feature a judging panel with Sheridan Smith, Adam Lambert, Jason Manford and Beverley Knight as the four famous judges.

The new series is being filmed summer 2021, with four groups consisting of three contestants who each transform into their music idols.

The winning group will be decided according to who gets the most votes from the judges with the contestants in each group going up against each other to win a place in the final and a prize of £50,000.

Olly Murs said: ‘I’m really excited to be hosting a big Saturday Night show like Starstruck. It ticks all the boxes; it’s about feel good, family fun which is something we all need right now.

Beverley Knight added: ‘Every show we get to witness ordinary people emulate extraordinary icons on a huge scale and I’m so here for it!

‘I’m looking forward to hearing and seeing those spectacular transformations and being a cheerleader for every contestant.’

Stars in Their Eyes presenters

Over the years, Stars in Their Eyes had a number of presenters.

Leslie Crowther

Despite Chris Tarrant hosting a number of non televised episodes of the show, its first ever presenter was Leslie Crowther from the first episode which aired July 21, 1990. Tragically, Leslie had a terrible car accident in 1992 which caused serious head injuries. It soon became clear that his condition meant that he could no longer continue his career in show business, and sadly, he died in 1996.

Russ Abbot

Russ stepped in to present an Elvis special of the show following Leslie Crowther's accident.

Matthew Kelly

Matthew Kelly is probably who most of us think of when Stars in Their Eyes comes to mind. When it became clear that Leslie Crowther would not be returning, Matthew Kelly became the permanent host, which he would continue to do until 2004.

Davina McCall

In 2003, Matthew Kelly was arrested by police over allegations of child sex abuse so Davina McCall presented a few specials during this period. Kelly later returned once the charges were dropped.

Cat Deeley

Cat Deeley hosted the kids version of the show, so it was natural for her to take over from Matthew Kelly for the final series of the adult version of the show. In 2006, Stars in Their Eyes was axed by ITV.

Harry Hill

In 2015, the show had a revival, with Harry Hill as host, but due to poor viewing figures, it was axed later that year.
