Loose Women star Gloria Hunniford has revealed her pal and colleague Ruth Langsford is “struggling to understand” why she and husband Eamonn Holmes have been dropped from their slot on This Morning.
Ruth and Eamonn have hosted Friday morning slots and school holidays, covering for Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield, since 2006, but it was recently confirmed they would be replaced by Alison Hammond and Dermot O’Leary on Fridays.
“That one was very hard to understand - I don’t fully understand the reasons behind it,” said Gloria.
“I’ve talked to Eamonn since, and he’s clearly disappointed. I think they find it very difficult to understand why the change.”
Speaking to The Mirror she added, "There are a lot of lovely new young presenters coming in, which is good. They’re trying to cater for every age group."
While she may have lost her regular gig on This Morning, Ruth will continue to lead the panel on Loose Women, which airs daily directly after This Morning finishes.
Rumours began circulating that ITV were replacing the married duo last month, after a well-received one-off episode presented by Alison and Dermot led to claims they had been offered the roles permanently.
Although ITV initially refused to comment, it was later confirmed to be true, with Ruth and Eamonn releasing a supportive joint statement on Twitter wishing their replacements luck.
