Who is Ruth Langsford

Ruth Langsford is a TV presenter known for presenting shows such as This Morning and How the Other Half Lives. Ruth is also a regular panellist on the talk show Loose Women.

How old is Ruth Langsford?

Ruth was born on 17th March 1960, making her 60 years old.

Ruth Langsford's sister

In 2019 Ruth's sister, Julia Johnson died by suicide following a long battle with depression. Ruth shared the sad news on Instagram, writing: " “My lovely Sis Julia has sadly died after a very long illness. My heart is completely broken,”

“She was the kindest and most gentle soul and I will miss her forever. As I am sure you will appreciate I need to take time to grieve with my family. Thank you for your understanding.”

Speaking about her return to TV following her loss, Ruth told Best Magazine: “It seemed wrong to be cheery on screen, when, inside, my heart was breaking."

Following Julia's death, it was husband Eamonn who convinced Ruth to return to work. “He showed me how I had so much to live for in Julia’s memory – and beyond."

“He pleaded with me not to let it win, by ruining everything I had achieved – and still had to celebrate.”

Ruth Langsford and Eamonn Holmes

Eamonn and Ruth have been together a long time, and tied the knot in 2010 in Hampshire, selling photos to Hello! magazine. Together they have a son called Jack, and Eamonn has three children from his first marriage – Declan, Rebecca and Niall. Ruth, Eamonn, Jack and rescue dog Maggie live together in Surrey.

Their relationship is full of teasing, famously when Ruth took part in Strictly Come Dancing, when he husband declared her chances of winning were ‘nil’.

The pair regularly host This Morning during the school holidays when Holly and Philip take a break.

Ruth Langsford on Strictly Come Dancing

In 2017, Ruth took part in the fifteenth series of Strictly Come Dancing with professional dance partner Anton du Beke. She was the seventh celebrity to be eliminated, leaving the show on 12th November.

You won't BELIEVE Eamonn's nickname for Ruth!

Eamonn Holmes is a brave man… or possibly stupid? He’s admitted on This Morning that he has a less than flattering nickname for his gorgeous wife Ruth Langsford – his ‘little turkey neck’.

He got in trouble on live TV during a cooking segment with Irish chef Donal Skehan, who was cooking chicken dumpling soup.

Eamonn said to the chef: "I wish you'd stop saying that cause that's my pet name for Ruth, my little chicken dumpling, my little turkey neck." Looking to Ruth, who turned pink, Donal replied: “You’re being very brave!”

Ruth retorted: "Don't worry he's very brave at work, not at home, and remember I do all the cooking at home."

‘Turkey neck’ is, of course, a negative reference to the skin on a woman’s neck and décolletage, which can become crêpey, saggy or wrinkled as we age – but most of our husbands know better than to draw attention to it! We think Ruth is particularly gorgeous, and looks amazingly youthful, so we hope Eamonn knows how lucky he is!

Ruth sparks tea debate

We’ve all got our own idea of the ‘correct’ way to make a cuppa, but when This Morning presenter Ruth Langsford made a cup of tea on ITV’s Sunday version of This Morning, she sparked a debate amongst of viewers on how to make the perfect cup of tea.

The presenter provoked an outcry on social media after she added the milk to her cup before the tea but she didn't realise she was doing anything out of the ordinary. Asked if the controversy caught her by surprise, she told BANG Showbiz: "It did a bit, because I've never really thought about it!

"I always put my milk in first if I’ve got tea in a teapot, I've never really thought about it but when all that debate happened on social media I realised if I make tea in a mug with a tea bag I put the milk in afterwards, but when it's in a teapot I always put the milk in first. Don't ask me why, that's how I roll."
