Richard Madeley became a household name here in the UK back in the late 80s, when he and his wife, Judy Finnigan presented the popular daytime show, This Morning together.

The pair were so popular in their presenting role that it was often called 'The Richard and Judy' show, rather than 'This Morning' by many!

They quit the show back in 2001, but Richard has remained a regular on our screens, hosting various TV shows, writing a number of books and also, most recently, appearing on the 2021 series of I'm a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here.

Richard Madeley and Judy Finnegan

Richard met Judy back in 1982, when they both worked for Granada. They got married in 1986 and they have two children together - Jack and Chloe.

The pair have presented a number of shows together, most famously This Morning and Richard & Judy which ran until 2009.

Since their TV presenting roles, they have written a range of books together and even have their own, very popular, book club. They run the club with WHSmiths and there's a huge community of bookworms who follow Richard and Judy's book recommendations each month.

Richard has taken on more TV jobs of his own over recent years, standing in on Good Morning Britain's and even getting into heated debates with GMB's Dr Hilary.

Richard Madeley and Alan Partridge comparisons

Richard has been mocked on several occasions by viewers because of how similar they think he is to comedy character Alan Partridge.

Speaking to the Daily Mail about these comments, he said, “I honestly don’t care at all – it’s actually quite funny. It’s part and parcel of the job I do,” he said.

“It’s so important that you don’t take yourself seriously, because you’re not gonna have a good time if you do.

“Judy and I started out on This Morning which isn’t really hard news. I don’t go to war zones, I do popular television, which on the whole is pretty pointless, it’s just entertainment. It doesn’t mean you’re remotely important or interesting.”

“If people wanna take what I say - a quip or a comment - and compare me to Alan Partridge - good luck to them. I think some quotes are often taken so ludicrously out of context that it’s a bit unfair.”

We'll let you decide for yourself if you can see the similarities in the two.
