The Platinum Jubilee marked Queen Elizabeth II's 70-year reign, the first British Monarch to reach such as milestone.

To celebrate, a four-day Queen Platinum Jubilee Bank Holiday weekend from June 2 to June 5, 2022 was held, with lots of events taking place including a live concert called 'Platinum Party at the Palace'.

Although the Queen actually reached this milestone on 6 February 2022, the first week of June was chosen to celebrate as it offers a better chance of lovely weather.

The Queen’s Birthday Parade (Trooping the Colour): Over 1,400 parading soldiers, 200 horses and 400 musicians came together in the traditional Parade to mark The Queen's official birthday, usually held on the second Saturday in June.

Beginning at Buckingham Palace, the Parade moved down The Mall to Horse Guard's Parade, joined by Members of the Royal Family on horseback and in carriages. The Parade closed with the traditional RAF fly-past, watched by The Queen and Members of the Royal Family from the Buckingham Palace balcony.

Platinum Jubilee Beacons: The UK’s long tradition of celebrating Royal Jubilees, Weddings and Coronations with the lighting of beacons was continued to mark the Platinum Jubilee. Beacons were lit throughout the United Kingdom, Channel Islands, Isle of Man and UK Overseas Territories.

For the first time, beacons were also lit in each of the capital cities of the Commonwealth countries to celebrate The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.
