Lynda’s heartbroken husband Michael Pattemore, aka Mr Spain, this morning thanked Yours readers for their love and support and urged everyone to remember her as an actress.
Speaking to Yours writer Carole Richardson this morning he said: “I just want her to be remembered as an actress more than anything; not as a celebrity or one of the Loose Women.
“She started her career as an actress and never thought of herself as a celebrity; she’s always been an actress.”
“I can tell you now that the words on her gravestone will be: ‘The curtain went up on 31st May, 1948, and the final curtain went down on 19 October, 2014.’
Doing his best to hold back tears, he added that in his heart of hearts he didn’t think she would make it to enjoy the one last Christmas with the family she so desperately wanted and it was clear she wouldn’t be able to die at home, as she’d wanted.
“She was in too much pain and they didn’t have it under control enough for me to be able to look after her.”
In honour of Lynda’s kindness and generosity we’ve decided to set up a fund in her memory to raise money for three charities close to her heart: Action Against Cancer, Macmillan and Marie Curie nurses. Michael has given his blessing to our appeal fund. If you’d like to donate visit http://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/YoursMagazine
