The countdown to King Charles III's Coronation is on and the invites are being sent out to the very important people set to attend King Charles' Coronation.

For many of us, it's the first Coronation of our lifetime, so it's understandable why there's so much excitement building around the event.

While the final guest list is yet to be confirmed to the public, it's expected that it will be attended by a range of royals from around the world, members of Parliament and heads of state plus some more recognisable faces.

The Royal family

It's expected that almost the entire British Royal family will be in attendance alongside King Charles III and Queen Consort Camilla.

As well as Prince William and the Princess of Wales and their children, you'll likely see Princess Anne, Sir Timothy Laurence, Peter Phillips, Zara Phillips and Mike Tindall and their children, Princess Beatrice and Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi and their children, Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank and their children, The Duke of Edinburgh, and Sophie, the Duchess of Edinburgh and their children, The Duke and Duchess of Kent and Prince and Princess Michael of Kent.

Royal family

There will also be lesser known royals including The Duke and Duchess of Gloucester, Alexander Windsor, Earl of Ulster, Lady Davina Windsor, Lady Rose Gilman, George Windsor, Earl of St Andrews, Lady Helen Taylor, Lord Nicholas Windsor, Princess Alexandra, the Honourable Lady Ogilvy, Lord Frederick Windsor and Sophie Winkleman, Lady Gabriella Kingston and Thomas Kingston, Lady Sarah Chatto and Daniel Chatto and their children, David Armstrong Jones, 2nd Earl of Snowdon, Charles Armstrong-Jones, Viscount Linley and Lady Margarita Armstrong-Jones.

Controversially, it is expected for the King's younger brother Prince Andrew to attend the coronation despite the controversy around his involvement in the sex abuse scandal and relationship with Jeffrey Epstein.

It has been confirmed that Prince Harry will be attending his father's coronation ceremony. It's reported that his wife Meghan along with their children, Archie and Lili will not be in attendance. It's believed that this will be the first time Harry will see his family since the release of his book, Spare.

The Pages of Honour

The Pages of Honour will play a very important role during the ceremony as they'll be responsible for carrying the robes of King Charles and Queen Consort Camilla into Westminster Abbey. The pair have selected close friends and family members as their Pages of Honour for the Coronation.

Prince George of Wales – As the eldest grandson of the King and our future King himself, George will be the youngest of the pages.

Lord Oliver Cholmondeley – Aged 13, Oliver is the son of David, the Marquess of Cholmondeley and Rose, the Marchioness of Cholmondeley (formerly Rose Hanbury).

Master Nicholas Barclay – He's the 13-year-old grandson of Lord-Lieutenant of Wilshire, Mrs. Sarah Troughton. As well as being close with Camilla, Sarah is a distant relative of King Charles, through her maternal grandfather who was the Queen Mother's brother.

Fredrick Parker Bowles – Son of Camilla's only son, Tom Parker Bowles, 12-year-old Frederick will also be a Page.

Gus and Louis Lopes – Grandson's of Camilla, 13-year-old twins Gus and Louis will also be Pages of Honour, and it's reported they share a very close relationship with their grandmother.

Master Ralph Tollemache – The 12-year-old son of Hon. Edward (godson of the King) and Sophie Tollemache.

Master Arthur Elliot – Camilla's great-nephew, 11-year-old Arthur is son of Ben Elliot and his wife Mary-Clare Winwood.

It's expected the Pages will be dressed for the occasion with special outfits in the form of red frock coat with gold trimmings, white gloves, waistcoat and breeches with a pair of black buckled shoes and a lace cravat with ruffles.

Queen Consort Camilla's guests

As well as the King's relatives, it's understood that some of Camilla's family will be in the limelight for the first time. As well as her son, Tom Parker Bowles and his children Lola and Freddy, we're expected to see Laura Lopes (Camilla's daughter) and her children Eliza, Louis and Gus plus the Queen's companions, Sarah Troughton, Jane von Westenholz, Fiona, the Marchioness of Lansdowne, Lady Katharine Brooke, Baroness Carlyn Chisholm and Lady Sarah Keswick.

Royals from around the world

According to tradition, the coronation ceremony is a sacred ceremony between the monarch and their people in the presence of God so foreign royals were never expected to attend. However, King Charles is set to ditch this tradition, inviting a huge list of royals from around the globe.

Monaco royals

The list includes, Queen Margrethe II of Denmark, Prince Albert and Princess Charlene of Monaco, Crown Prince Frederik and Crown Princess Mary of Denmark, King Felipe VI and Queen Letizia of Spain, Queen Anne-Marie of Greece, King Juan Carlos I and Queen Sofia of Spain, Princess Beatrix of the Netherlands, Grand-Duke Henri of Luxembourg and Grand-Duchess Maria Teresa of Luxembourg, Crown Prince Pavlos and Crown Princess Marie-Chantal of Greece, King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia of Sweden, The Ruler of Abu Dhabi and President of the United Arab Emirates, King Harald V and Queen Sonja of Norway, The King of Morocco, The Ruler of Dubai, The Emir of Qatar, Crown Prince of Bahrain, The Sultan of Oman, King Philippe and Queen Mathilde of Belgium, King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima of the Netherlands, King Abdullah II and Queen Rania of Jordan, Sultan of Brunei, The King and Queen of Bhutan, Emperor Naruhito and Empress Masako of Japan, Crown Prince of Kuwait, His Majesty the Yang di Pertuan Agong and Her Majesty Raja Permaisuri Agong of Malaysia, The Hereditary Prince and Princess of Liechtenstein, King of Tonga, King Letsie III of Lesotho, The Hereditary Prince of Baden and Margareta of Romania Crown Prince Alexander and Crown Princess Katherine of Serbia.

British MP's and former Prime Ministers

There has been a bit of controversy around the number of MP's attending the coronation. To begin with, it was decided that only 20 MP's and 20 peers would be in attendance on the day but now this number has more than doubled after MP's have been lobbying the Cabinet office, arguing their case on why they should attend.

This is compared to the 800 MPs and 910 peers that were in attendance at Queen Elizabeth's 1953 coronation. During this coronation, scaffolding has to be erected to accommodate all the MP's – something which isn't possible at this coronation.

As well as current MP's, there will also be a number of former Prime Ministers and MP's in attendance. For the MP's who won't be able to go to Westminster Abbey, there have been 400 places allocated to parliament for MPs and peers to stand in a cordoned off area of Parliament Square to make them feel like they're a part of proceedings.

Current MP's include Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, Deputy Prime Minister and Justice Secretary Dominic Raab, Chancellor Jeremy Hunt and Labour leader Sir Keir Starmer as well as Home Secretary Suella Braverman, Foreign Secretary James Cleverly, Housing and Communities Secretary Michael Gove, Health Secretary Steve Barclay, Environment Secretary Therese Coffey, Defence Secretary Ben Wallace, Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster Oliver Dowden, Science, Innovation and Technology Secretary Michelle Donelan, Business and Trade Secretary Kemi Badenoch, Education Secretary Gillian Keegan, Work and Pensions Secretary Mel Stride, Transport Secretary Mark Harper and Culture, Media and Sport Secretary Lucy Frazer.

There's also Speaker of the House of Commons Sir Lindsay Hoyle, Lord President of the Council and Leader of the Commons Penny Mordaunt, Wales Secretary David T C Davies, Scotland Secretary Alister Jack, Northern Ireland Secretary Chris Heaton-Harris, First Minister of Scotland Humza Yousaf and First Minister of Wales Mark Drakeford. Peers include the Duke of Norfolk, the Earl Marshal, Lord True, Leader of the House of Lords and Lord Privy Seal and Baroness Smith of Basildon, leader of the opposition of the House of Lords.

Former Prime Ministers who'll be going are Boris Johnson, Liz Truss, Theresa May, David Cameron, Gordon Brown, Tony Blair and John Major.

Heads of State

Representatives from a range of British allies and Commonwealth countries around the world are expected to attend.

Members of the public

For most of us, we'll be watching the coronation at home on TV, but for a special few, they'll be invited to Westminster Abbey to attend the ceremony. Representatives from the many charities the King supports will be invited as well as many volunteers.

The ceremony will also feature an appearance from the very special Coronation Choir, a diverse group of people including NHS workers and singers from deaf singing groups, LGBTQIA+ choirs plus refugee singing groups.
