TV presenter Kate Garraway has been at the forefront of a lot of headlines over the last year following her husband's fight with coronavirus. But how much do you know about Kate?
How old is Kate Garraway?
Kathryn Mary Garraway was born 4 May 1967, making her currently 57 years old.
Kate Garraway's husband
Kate married Ian Rumsey, her former boss at ITV Meridian in 1998 however the couple divorced in 2002.
In September 2005, Kate married Derek Draper in Camden, London. Derek was a political aide to former Labour cabinet minister Peter Mandelson.
In March 2020, Derek was diagnosed with COVID-19. He died at home on 3rd January 2024.
Kate Garraway's children
Kate and Derek have two children together, daughter Darcey and son Billy.
Kate Garraway's career
Kate is well known for having presented GMTV which she joined in September 2000, co-presenting GMTV Today with the likes of Andrew Castle, Fiona Phillips and Emma Crosby.
When GMTV relaunched in 2009, she co-hosted the programme with Ben Shephard, Eamonn Holmes, John Stapleton and Dan Lobb. She presented her final show on 31 August 2010.
Kate went on to join Daybreak, the successor to GMTV for several years however in 2014, it was announced that Daybreak would be cancelled and replaced with Good Morning Britain, which Kate joined as one of the main presenters, where she remains.
The Great Celebrity Bake Off for Stand Up to Cancer

In January 2025 it was confirmed that Kate Garraway was one of a number of celebrities lined up to take part in The Great Celebrity Bake Off for Stand Up to Cancer. The show will air in the spring.
Strictly Come Dancing
Kate appeared in the fifth series of Strictly Come Dancing, partnered with professional dancer Anton du Beke.
Despite receiving the lowest score from the judges in every week but one, Kate proved popular with viewers as she was repeatedly saved by the public vote. She went on to finish 8th of the 14 couples.
I'm a Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here!
Adding another show to her remit, in November 2019, Kate took part in the nineteenth series of I'm a Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here! Narrowly missing out on the top three, Kate came fourth in the show, leaving on day 21.
Kate Garraway's book
In 2020, Kate announced she would share her and Derek's personal experience in a book.
As well as recounting how the coronavirus took hold of her family's lives, she wrote about coping with the uncertainty of their future and supporting her children through the traumatic time, how she found strength in community and how tried to hold on to hope even at the darkest of times.
