How old is Gabby Logan?

Born Gabrielle Nicole Yorath on April 24, 1973, in Leeds, England, she is currently 51 years of age.

Gabby Logan's family

Her early life was steeped in sports as her father, Terry Yorath was a professional footballer, which undoubtedly influenced her passion for athletics. Her mother is Christine Yorath and she has three siblings: Jordan, Louise and Daniel. Sadly, her brother Daniel passed away in 1992 when he was just 15, due to a condition called hypertrophic cardiomyopathy.

She told The Game Changers podcast. "We had no warning. He had a congenital heart defect which meant that from the outside and ostensibly his fitness was just beyond you know. He was in the top 0.00 per cent. His heart was enlarged and basically was about to give way and pack up on him but there were no signs at all.

"He was never breathless. When he did die, he died in the garden playing football with my dad. He was just kicking the ball about and keeled over. It was absolutely cataclysmic. It defined the rest of our youth and has defined how the family has gone on from those years and it leaves its mark in many ways. It was a really hard time for everybody and to this day the ramifications are still there."

Gabby Logan gymnastics

Gabby herself was a talented gymnast, representing Wales in rhythmic gymnastics at the 1990 Commonwealth Games in Auckland. Her athletic career, however, was cut short due to a back injury, leading her to pivot towards a different path while maintaining her connection to the world of sports.

Gabby Logan's husband and children

She married now-retired Scottish rugby union player Kenny Logan in 2001 and they currently live in Leeds. After undergoing IVF treatment, the pair welcomed twins Rueben and Lois Maya in 2005.

Sport runs in their blood as the now 18-year-olds both compete professionally; Reuben is a professional rugby union player (who plays for Northampton Saints) and Lois is a British show jumper.

Gabby Logan on her husband Kenny's cancer diagnosis

In 2022, Kenny got diagnosed with prostate cancer and received the all-clear in 2023. She hosts her own podcast called The Mid•Point where she discusses the challenges and expectations of mid-life, along with advice from experts, and it was one of these episodes that her husband listened to which led to him getting diagnosed.

Davina McCall talks about the menopause a lot publicly. She's done brilliant documentaries. And so she came on and talked about her HRT and how that affected various things, including libido. So Kenny went, ‘I've just listened to Davina's episode. What happens to me with my hormones?’ as if I was the Oracle. I said, ‘Look, men, men's hormones do change, but not quite the same rate as women.’ And he said, ‘But do you think my testosterone is okay?’, she shared with Chris Evans on Virgin Radio.

“Being a sportsman, he doesn't mind people, you know, kind of having a prod and a poke. So he goes off to a male health clinic and gets some blood tests. And when he went to get the results, they said, ‘Your testosterone is fine, mate, but PSA is high.’ And he said, ‘What is a PSA? I have no idea what this is.’

“Ultimately, he had his prostate removed, because that was decided the best course of treatment for him. Because he caught it so early, it hadn't spread anywhere. And that's the danger with prostate cancer, is that if you wait too long and you have symptoms, it may go to other parts of the body. So he was incredibly lucky, and because of that, he said to me, ‘When I come through this, and I've had the prostate removed, and I feel better, I really want to do something about it on the podcast.’

“So all the while through that, we had little conversations the night before he went to hospital, when he got his diagnosis, which we then put into an episode, and it's one of the most downloaded, and doctors always recommend it.”

Gabby Logan Strictly Come Dancing

In 2007, Gabby took part in Strictly Come Dancing and was partnered with professional dancer James Jordan, BUT was sent home in Week 4 of the show. Coincidently, her husband Kenny was also competing in the same series, with Ola Jordan (James' now-wife) and made it to Week 10.

During a chat on the podcast Monday Mile with Aimee Fuller, Gabby was asked if losing to Kenny on Strictly was one of life's greatest disappointments, she answered: "Just being kicked out of Strictly was a disappointment. Losing to him wouldn't have been as bad had he come out the following week, but he went out seven weeks later, so I had to go every week and clap for him in the front row. You know when they show the friends and family and they're clapping away?

"He still brags about it..."
