Line of Duty star Keeley Hawes has officially been confirmed as the joint lead in Falling, Channel 4's highly anticipated upcoming drama. The series will see the actress team up with Paapa Essiedu, who's recently been cast in the new Harry Potter series, in a gripping and emotionally charged tale of forbidden love.

Created by Adolescence writer Jack Thorne and produced by the people behind It's A Sin (which Keeley also featured in), Falling explores a passionate and complex romance where the characters are torn between faith, desire, and moral boundaries.

What will Falling on Channel 4 be about?

The six-part series is the writer's "first ever love story" about a devoted nun and a Catholic priest who find themselves falling for each other.

"Both are deeply committed to their work in the church and in their community. Neither are expected to fall in love. But when they do, both are forced to wrestle with what it means for them, their vows, and their relationship with God.", the synopsis reads.

Meanwhile, stage and screen actor Paapa Essiedu from I May Destroy You and The Capture, will be playing David, the priest. He aid that the drama "is a story that has Jack Thorne’s singular talent of mining the sublime out of the ordinary running all the way through".
