Eve Myles is a Welsh actress who was born and raised in Ystradgynlais on the edge of the Bannau Brycheiniog National Park.

She attended the prestigious Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama in Cardiff, where she honed her acting skills and trained alongside some of Wales' most promising future stars. You may recognise her from some of Britain's biggest television dramas including Keeping Faith and Broadchurch, but did you know that she was made famous by playing Ceri Lewis in Belonging, the long-running BBC Wales drama series?

Doctor Who

Back in Christopher Eccleston's era, Eve Myles appeared in Doctor Who for one episode as Gwyneth, a telepath who could unintentionally read people’s minds. This was before her big break in the sci-fi spin-off, Torchwood.

Also in the episode was companion Rose, played by Billie Piper and Simon Callow as Charles Dickens.

Torchwood

In 2006, Eve Myles was cast in Torchwood, the Doctor Who spin-off series. She played Gwen Cooper, a brave, witty and empathetic policewoman turned alien investigator. The show was a major success (particularly for a spin-off) and blended sci-fi with dark drama.

Despite sharing an identical face and a shortened version of her name, Gwen is not a blood relation to Gwyneth from the Doctor Who episode, as confirmed in Journey's End, the fourth season finale.

Broadchurch

In the hit ITV drama Broadchurch, Claire was played by Eve Myles. She was a former hairdresser and the wife of Lee (James D'Arcy), a suspected kidnapper and murderer.

Keeping Faith

Eve Myles gave a performance of a lifetime in Keeping Faith. She played the titular character, Faith, a solicitor at a family-run law firm whose world is turned upside down when her husband disappears, causing her to cut her maternity leave short and deal with the consequences of his actions whilst raising their three young children.

The show - also known as Un Bore Mercher (One Wednesday Morning) was filmed concurrently in both Welsh and English and was the most popular show on BBC Wales for over 25 years.

Here's a fun fact for Keeping Faith fans: Evan (Bradley Freegard) and Faith (Eve Myles) are married in real life.

We Hunt Together

Eve plays DS Lola Franks in We Hunt Together. In this twist on a classic cat-and-mouse story, two police officers track down a deadly duo who are drawn together through sexual desire and emotional manipulation.

Hijack

Idris Elba's Hijack gripped a global audience on Apple TV+. Each of the 7 episodes followed the seven-hour turmoil of passengers as their flight from Dubai to London was hijacked. To protect the lives of those on board, air traffic controller Alice Sinclair (played by Eve Myles) works tirelessly in her office to assist corporate negotiator Sam Nelson (Idris Elba) who is trying to diffuse the situation from the air.

The Crow Girl

The Crow Girl TV series is a gripping Paramount Plus adaptation of a Scandinavian bestselling book about the race to track down a serial child killer. It stars Eve Myles as DCI Jeanette Kilburn and former Coronation Street actress Katherine Kelly as Dr Sophia Craven, a psychotherapist, who join forces to find the cold-blooded murderer.

The Guest (upcoming)

Eve Myles has been filming a brand new drama called The Guest for BBC iPlayer and BBC One, which is in co-production with BBC Cymru Wales. The show will focus on the beguiling relationship between a boss and her infatuated employee (played by Gabrielle Creevy from In My Skin and Black Doves) who have to share secrets and lies when some advice leads to a major event.

Who is Eve Myles' husband?

Eve Myles is married to Welsh actor Bradley Freegard. The pair met and the National Youth Theatre in 1994 and tied the knot in May 2013. They have three children, Mia, Siena and their youngest daughter who they welcomed in 2021.

Aside from playing Evan, Eve's onscreen husband in Keeping Faith, you may recognise Bradley as King Canute from Vikings: Valhalla.
