In recent years, musical biopics have brought the stories of iconic artists to life, from the likes of Elvis and Whitney Houston to Bob Dylan and Amy Winehouse. But now, all eyes are on the long-awaited Beatles biopics, as the cast have finally been announced.
Rumours have been swirling for some time about who would play whom. However, the mystery was finally unveiled on the 31st March when the four actors made a surprise appearance on stage at CinemaCon in Las Vegas with the Oscar-winning director Sam Mendes (best known for American Beauty, Skyfall and 1917).
Normal People and Gladiator II star Paul Mescal will play Sir Paul McCartney, while Saltburn and The Batman actor Barry Keoghan will portray Ringo Starr. Harris Dickinson, from Scrapper - who recently starred alongside Nicole Kidman in Babygirl - will step into the shoes of John Lennon. Completing the line-up as George Harrison is Joseph Quinn from Stranger Things, who will go from Marvel's Fantastic Four to the Fab Four.
Each actor has big shoes to fill, tasked with not only capturing the look and sound of these music legends but also channelling their unique personalities and chemistry.

There will be four films in total, one for each of the Liverpudlian band members, and they will all be released in close succession in April 2028. “We’re not just making one film about the Beatles,", Sir Sam announced at the event. "Perhaps this is a chance to understand them a little more deeply.”
He felt that "the story of the band was too huge to fit into a single movie, and that turning it into a TV mini-series just somehow didn't feel right."
Each film "is told from the particular perspective of just one of the guys. They intersect in different ways - sometimes overlapping, sometimes not."
