With many of our favourite museums, galleries and exhibitions going virtual, we can now explore and learn more about historical places of interest without having to leave our homes.

One of those places we're itching to take a virtual tour around is Buckingham Palace. The tours usually take place between July and September, but with the virtual tours, members of the public are invited to take a tour around the official residence of the Queen from the comfort of their home.

So if you're a fan of the Royals and you want to make a day of it from your home, why not make your own traditional afternoon tea, get your posh outfit on and take a trip around the palace.

By clicking and dragging while watching the below tour, you can move around freely, as though you're really there. This experience works best on a computer or laptop but it can even work on a smartphone or tablet too.

During the virtual tour, you'll even get a tour guide who will speak to you all about the Palace rooms and provide you with all the interesting information you need. You can pause the tour at any point and take a deeper look around at each room.

If you want to take a more detailed look at some of the more famous rooms, such as the iconic Throne Room, the Blue Drawing Room and the White Drawing Room, the royal.uk website have featured interactive images so we can zoom in on things, and look in detail around each room.

If you're interested in taking a real tour around the Palace, you can find out more about summer Buckingham Palace tourshere.
