We've chosen some of the best podcasts we're indulging in at the moment - if ever there was a time we wanted to be transported to another planet, now's it.

In her podcast series she talks to others who've turned adversity into something positive – we challenge you to keep a dry eye while you listen to this podcast. From a whistle-blower policewoman, to a drag queen, plus Prue Leith and Nadiya Hussain, there's an amazing range of extraordinary people to discover. At the time of writing there were 42 episodes you can catch up on.

This new weekly podcast features a host of celebrity guests, all of whom are asked one question: "What are the five things from your life that you would put into a time capsule?" It's a good question – and makes you think what you'd put into your own time capsule. Hosted by actor Michael Fenton Stevens (you might have seen him in My Family, Only Fools and Horses, and The Crown), the first episode featured the fabulous Stephen Fry. We like this podcast because of the range of celebrities featured – from the Rev Richard Coles, to Shane Richie, and Anthony Head – and the depth to which they talk about some of the favourite things in their lives. What they choose to bury can be quite surprising.

Warning: this podcast will make you want to take up quilting – if you don't already. It's a charming view of the world from one of our favourite Great British Bake Off presenters (we still miss her and Sue) Mel Giedroyc and her radio presenter chum, Andy Bush. Each week they cut up fabric squares to feature in one big quilt; although, as they freely admit, not a great deal of sewing actually gets done, as they're so busy chatting. It's like overhearing two friends on the bus, and we love it.

A beautiful and fascinating podcast that's ideal for listening to after supper; sit back and gaze and the stars yourself while you listen. It features all the latest stargazing news, plus special features – the most recent episode celebrates 30 years of the Hubble Telescope. Where would we be without Hubble? It's revolutionised astronomy and quite literally changed how we view space.

Join the Countryfile team for a weekly foray into the countryside, meeting different fascinating guests each week. Recent stars include author, naturalist and broadcaster Tim Dee, and the latest episodes include a ramble in Dorset, a reading from The Amateur Poacher by Richard Jeffries, and a visit to a Bristolian community farm. If the Sunday night show just isn't enough for you, then you'll love this podcast.
